ShindoL can only write two types of stories.

I can't for the life of me decide if this was intended to be a subversion of the darker tropes that pervade hentai or just a cheap cash in on them. With most porn, there's a veneer of fantasy to it, whether it's as overt and obvious as a fantasy or sci-fi setting, or more slightly more subtle, with tone and the way characters behave, or react, ultimately establishing a detachment from reality.
And 'Emergence' definitely starts out with that. It runs it's self through all the contemporary h-manga tropes and set-pieces. A good stretch of fetishes, to boot. Then something happens. Chapter 5 I think is where we start to notice that veneer of fantasy getting rapidly stripped away. We're presented with not only the protag having an abortion, but also the obvious emotional impact it has on her. Then, it just keeps going, and going, and going. The deal with Japan is that a small group of people rulled the country with an iron fist for hundreds of years, killing anyone that was either disrespectfull or incompetent. I liked it. Great art work, enjoyable story in the sense that it's different from what I've typically read in smut comics. I fapped to the first sex scene and that was enough, not all of the sex needs to be used for beating off, it's cool to use it as a vessel for story telling just every once in awhile.
