It's true that some assets for the clothes which were not supposed (by Ray, I should add) to be viewed outside the house are missing. That's the very idea behind the mod. That you can get Sylvie improperly clothed outside the house.
The assets are simply not available. That has nothing to do with compatibility. They simply don't exist. And I am no artist. I once struggled have an hour to add an alpha channel to a mouse cursor once.
If I was to add a check here, it would be frankly retarded. Because then I'd try to hide shit. And I am not gonna hide shit. If an image is loaded improperly, that's a sign that we will need the fucking asset. If the image is not loaded at all, that means that we know our shit stinks and want to hide that.
At least I won't add such a check. Who knows, someone actually competent might come around the corner and, unlike you, actually have an asset I can use. In that case I not only would have to add it to the mod, but also revert the don't-use-erroneous-asset code.

Uh, yeah it does. The lack of assets from Ray means that the game is not compatible with the mod the way you wrote it. Ray's art does not support your mod the way you wrote it.
So rather than bitching about that, you could've just added a check that would give an in-universe excuse to avoid running into a totally bugged scene. Be creative. This is partially a code thing, sure, but it should be viewed as a chance to add some speech events to your mod as well. For some creativity, for some more plot.

A placeholder is there because there is no image for the outfit Sylvie is wearing in that pose -and- because it doesn't reference the right picture. The game flips out. To fix this, either prevent that outfit from making it to that scene (by implementing a 'check' and making up an in-universe spoken excuse as to why she wouldn't be allowed), or add the missing outfit (by creating art from scratch that Ray has not issued).
The hilarious thing about the latter option that anon-kun up there is so adamant about is that he'd have to edit the code to implement the new asset anyway. The dinner scene--the pose that eating lunch with Sylvie uses--doesn't have code to reference that outfit in the first place. So no matter what, he'd have to add code merely to add support for this particular outfit (and any others like it).
Now, if he's very lucky, then the new dinner scene Ray is working on won't have any restrictions and so he'll get his wish and there'll be new assets for all the lewd outfits in the next version of the game. That of course won't do anything for 1.3.1, however, nor will it solve the problem of his current mod being broken.

It's very simple: because the game does not check for a certain value of a variable (called "f.dress"), it does not load an image for the table scene. Instead it uses whatever was loaded previously (decent engines hold the image as a texture in the VRAM, I dunno if that's the case for Tyrano as well) for this slot. And what was loaded previously is the shirt (/+ tie).

Because I did. I have seen it flipping out when I was editing the sex scene with Sylvie, added a new variable, and send the game into an unstoppable loop.
It basically boils down to two choices as to what to add in set_show.ks (because surprise, surprise, I actually know my code). I could either change it to this:

If it actually would let the game flip out, believe me, I'd be here to fix it right now. Since there are no real detriments though, I'll keep it in until I have an asset to load in properly.
You seem to think that I am hesitant about generally adding code to it, that is not the case though. I don't want to add code that I'll later have to fix anyways. That's the mother of all bugreports.

A while back, Ray was frustrated because the latest version of Tyrano had reversed the direction of image layers, which caused all of his clothing to break because he's essentially 'cheating' by controlling the order of layers loading rather than directly specifying when and where clothes will be on-screen. So because his code was lazy, it broke.
The creator of Tyrano then went and added a config option that allowed you to specify which direction the layers would load, 'fixing' the problem. He never truly stopped working on the game, but he has said that he prefers to work on the sequel to HitomeBore as priority over TF updates.
