I'm in the same boat, if I ever watch anime it's always ecchi or just hentai. I'm not in it for the plot or anything, just the attractive characters. I mean sometimes when I was ecchi animes like Highschool dxd i'm fine but I was never huge on anime like some.
The most I watched when I was younger was Naruto and Pokemon and that's about it.

I used to watch it regularly then got tired of it around 2012 or so, the moe craze that flooded the market near 2006 and how obnoxious the waifu asperger audience is, actually got me pretty disgusted with what the medium truly is. I had my fill anyway and pretty much watched all the essentials that don't pander to the mentally challenged.

people like hentai cos of the art and unrealistic stuff that's just not possible in regular porn. i think that anime in general is just poorly written and designed to appeal to the otaku crowd. on top of that, animation quality is pretty poor around the board due to the way everything works in Japan (i'm gonna be honest I enjoy watching some anime just purely out of good animation seeing how rare it is).
even the best anime are at most at the level of your average TV show

I wouldn't say I hate anime. I like JRPGs, Hentai, and Manga, but most animes don't really grab my attention anymore. I guess you could say the same for JRPGs since most of my favorites are bordering 5+ years old, and I really dislike the trend of every fucking new release trying to ape Persona by trying to be "Slice of Life crossed with Epic adventure".
I think a lot of "new" mediums are in a rut right now and are trying to find their identity. Anime and Vidya are pretty much forced to either appeal to the lowest common denominator or create something that people will obsess over and buy purely out of brand loyalty. It's just not profitable to appeal to people who have any kind of "taste" beyond "whats new on the shelves.
Once in a blue moon, you get something like One Punch Man or JJBA that look and feel like the people who made it gave a fuck.
Though with anime, I feel like we would be so much better off if Light Novel adaptations went the way of the fucking dinosaur already.

No you aren't. As for me, I just find anime really boring to watch. I get really bored watching TV and movies too, so I don't think it's anything particular about anime that makes me find it boring.

I was into anime but now I'm in a state of complete disinterest. I've seen most of the best series and honestly I'm not a hardcore enough fan to see the worse stuff. There are also not as many good series that feature adult themes I can relate to.
However I fapped it to cartoon characters in my formative sexual years so yeah.
I think part of the appeal for me is Hentai tends to have more of a plot than regular video porn, abliet a badly written one but that's standard for porn, I almost exclusively wank it to stories rather than individual images. I also like written short stories and that's apparently quite rare for a guy. There is also the aspect that hentai production isn't a world of drugs and exploitation, which is nice if you're a moralfag.
hentai is much better with stories cause it's much more believeable due to how terrible porn acting tends to be. Also I really like how the women getting fucked narates how she feels in side her head.

Both were popular in Japan at the time, but they were cult classics and didn't really have much of an influence at the time.
That goes for the whole Megaten brand until Persona 3. Megami Tensei was doing the catch'em'all shit almost a decade before pokemon and were post-apocalyptic RPGs before Fallout, but only SMT 2 and If... ever sold anything approaching decent figures and no one ever cites them as influences
