My iPod automatically connects to my car via bluetooth.

Sound-wise, literally anything else upwards of $20 will provide a better experience than those earpods.
Most headphones are not sleep friendly so use in-ear. If you're on a budget, JVC makes some decent ones for a reasonable price. I like to use those with remote controls attached so I won't have to fish for my player in the dark when I want to adjust the volume or skip tracks.

Obviously the quality of the works have gotten better over time. Binaural works pretty much weren't even a thing 4-5 years ago and binaural works have popped up much more frequently (along with circles) in recent times and quality of voice works has gotten much better generally.
Back then it pretty much was JON and Voice Lover which were the most popular circles and the best ones.
