That's not a contradiction. You can only really find recent stuff with tag searche if you don't want to search through dozens of pages. Popular and good tankoubons that are years old are very hard to find with these.

Well, this isn't a great indication of art quality (the first few artists have kinda crappy art though.), but this is a cool feature. Now I can check out a bunch of artists that people tend to scan, rather than finding a good-looking piece and then checking out more of the artist's works from there.
The popular tags seems good to have, at least, for Characters and Parodies, but the tagging system is less comprehensive than Exhentai. On Exh, you can search by male/female tags. On Nhentai, you'll end up getting crossdressing or double_penetration of a different gender unless you start excluding certain tags. With long H manga, specific tagging is good to have so you have a better idea of what to expect.
I do like the quick download torrent button, though. There are some hentai that get updated regularly, though, and seeing multiple torrents by date on Exhentai is good for making sure you're getting the right stuff.
The "More like this" can be hit or miss. I usually just check out more of an artist's work if I'm digging what I'm currently looking at, or start search a tag, but I'm sure it's a good feature.
Being able to sort each individual tag/character/parody by popularity is awesome, though. Still, on Exhentai I like the 5 star rating system, though, because there are plenty of doujins with a good cover that wind up being shit, and people click them and it'll increase the popularity on Nhentai. I rarely find something with 4 or less stars on Exhentai that I wind up keeping.
So, I'll have to check this site out to discover new artists, but when searching for things by tag, I probably won't mess around with this site much. For getting Wani-related things too, I guess, though I'm not a fan of a bunch of the Wani artists desu.
Hitomi is trash though. I'll never use it.

But unlike exhentai, neither nhentai nor Hitomi remove Wani related content. The only thing exhentai has more of is Western and furry shit and image compilations. All of their doujins, Manga and CG sets are on nhentai and Hitomi and stay there indefinitely, without being removed after a week.

Grind a shit ton in the game or upload galleries and torrents. A relatively easy way for that would be paying attention if some artists have lots of translated single chapters that match tankoubon releases and compile them together in that order. You should only do that if they're complete, though. Otherwise you could lurk the pixiv of artists and upload galleries of them or make image collections with a specific fetish.

Okay, as someone who does scanning:
Ehentai has, for any site dedicated solely to Hentai, the best distribution system, the best tagging, the best maintenance of tagging, and the most content.
By the way, nhentai is essentially a clone of EHentai. It has all the pros and less cons, but also has a symbiotic relationship with Ehentai. If the former goes down, it will be in a rough spot, especially without H@H.

no people don't hate it because it's new. people are trying to be realistic about how poor the current state of the site is when half this board seems to praise it for no reason other than "but it'll be amazing soon m8". That's great, maybe it will and maybe they won't implode running an adless system, but in the current state Tsumino is shit compared to almost any other doujin site. That is objectively true.
