What would be the fastest approach in photoshop to recreate this? It's fucking cool
In Photoshop? None.
You want Blender, Maya or some other 3D program m8.

well in ps you can make 3 different trees with the pen tool add some layer mask to them (plus fading gradient) and duplicate them + group + duplicate the group. it could be just as fast as any 3d software if you are fast with the ps workflow.

My thoughts exactly
make a brush and add scattering, then make separate layers for different color trees and use additional tree brushes (of your design). you could try using the color options to make the colors happen automatically but then you won't control the precise colors
is this good?

you know it isnt.
this was done in a 3d program. make 1 tree, put it in a cloner, add color, add a light bobs ya uncle.

Not OP but I have Maya
Is there a tutorial on how to make something like this? I always thought this kind of work were done in photoshop or illustrator

good luck manually drawing in the dynamic shades.

use a different shade of that same color to give the impression it has a 3d shape.
Now if you wanted it to turn in real time, you could go with CAD or animate it.
There are various ways to recreate this, gotta find what works best for you.
