When I open this .png file in photoshop it becomes distorted
Any possible reason as to why?
This is what appears as when opened.

Really shitty image file.
Find a new one or fix it.
Try to open it in krita and then save as .psd, maybe that'll work.

I'm going to assume you dragged that file from the internet somewhere. That's what happens to me when I drag it into Photoshop instead of Saving As.
You also have the alternative of opening the file in Fireworks (if you have that program) and Re-save it as a different png file. Hope that helps.

Do you have like Photoshop 7 or something? Works fine here.
I know older Photoshop versions couldn't parse 24-bit pngs with alpha if dragged straight out of the browser, but if you're saving the image to your disk and opening it int Photoshop through File > Open and it still looks like that.... Beats me.
