Some cool stuff, but is tumblr the best platform for a portfolio? I would think it would be hard to be taken seriously with some otherwise very strong work.
>>
>>249453
I didn't want to start making a site of my own because that's a design project of its own.
But I didn't consider my work good enough for Behance.

The way you got your behance to work is even cooler than the designs. How do you get those step by step gifs to flow seamlessly into the portfolio?

I've noticed a good presentation can seal a deal better than the design itself . For the fullbleed images it has to be at least 1400px wide , for the gifs they are allowed to be up to 600px wide so I only use a gif in a section where I can match them with the background color, you're allow to use 1200px gifs if you use giphy but it will show a player bar like you can see on my "alpha" project.

I'm a bit on a hurry i hope this image helps you, i can explain better later

you clearly know what you're doing. Great compositions. Impressive color schemes. Typography is not your strong point tough, you should experiment with more creative type treatments and less obvious typefaces.

>>250195
you know how to do "advertising major" design, time to get into more highbrow stuff. Read books and blogs, look at the work of famous designers, look at design awards. You seem to be pretty good, but you need the right inspiration.

Here is the other Minima Docta poster in action.
This edition screened a film called 'Light In Time To Come', made by one of our teachers, and focuses on the bad shit that is happening in the Middle-East, for which the Afghan War in 2003 is to blame.

The teacher was not happy with my interpretation, as he did not want to focus on the violence of Islam.
Of course, when I told him I believe 9/11 was an inside job, as an excuse for US and A to invade the Middle-East, and I did not "blame" 9/11 on Muslims, he said he now understood my poster and the choices I made.

there are quite a few nice experiments.
all in all i think the overall style of the works is too squishy. also are you just doing posters? as this seems to be not the most lucrative job.
i like the glitchy/abstract stuff. other things are drifting into random and poor vaporwave.
also the page you present your work on is really bad ( even if you might want it to fit to your work)
>>
>>251020
>there are quite a few nice experiments.
Thanks, I'm still learning.

>all in all i think the overall style of the works is too squishy.
>i like the glitchy/abstract stuff. other things are drifting into random and poor vaporwave.
Well yeah, our school has a very weird, artsy-fartsy, "avant-garde" style they push their students into. They are not business-oriented. In my first year, when I looked at the designs of older students, I thought 'what the fuck is this shit', but after a year or two you really get "brainwashed" into their line of thinking, and I completely get it now.
Two of our teachers formed a /gd duo, and they are (in my opinion) doing a fantastic job. You should check it out.
http://janenrandoald.be/
One of our teachers is also the creator of Robofont.

>also are you just doing posters? as this seems to be not the most lucrative job.
Well no, we had assignments for vinyl sleeves, identities, some web design, type design, books, booklets, publications, etc.
After I graduate, I'm gonna do another Master in Film, and a Post-Graduate in Brand & Packaging Design, so I don't have to work for all these small business or museums or whatevers.

>also the page you present your work on is really bad ( even if you might want it to fit to your work)
Yeah I know, we had to make the portfolio as an exercise in HTML/CSS/JS, using Foundation. I was thinking about doing a whole make-over thingie but I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Thanks for taking the time to write some feedback. I always appreciate that.

Thanks a lot anon! I'll train to improve my skills
>>
I need to make my first,

I want to do a simple website where you scroll down pictures, but the pictures display are super wide documents (maybe 40x9),

Will anything do or is there a service especially for panoramas?

The point of this is I want the user to scroll down for different works, then scroll sideways to see sketches/mock ups/user testing (its product design)
>>
>>251018
your school doesn't seem too bad man, Im studying visual communication (what you guys call Branding&Packaging I guess) and sometimes I really miss the artsy-fartsy assignments.

I like your work, and it's very conceptual so hard to critique, but the presentation needs work:

-the single column layout is good for anime tumblr blogs, not portfolios. I should be able to see an overview of all your projects at once AND I should be able to have the pictures fit into my monitor.

-Why can't I read the Minecraft Instruction Manual ? I really want too man.

-the blue color is too strong, it takes the center of attention away from your projects (also, IK blue is totally a meme color)

You're on a good track with those posters though. I love the WUNDERKAMMER prints. Your sketches are awesome too.

Tumblr. It may not sound professional but most of designers use that platform (incluiding me). Search for minimal templates aside from the ones that are offered in the Template zone of Tumblr. Basically most of cool minimal themes are nicely done and will showcase your work pretty good and most of them will have different scrolling options doe.
If you wanna get more pro, just buy a .com or build your own website (or pay for it).

>-the single column layout is good for anime tumblr blogs, not portfolios. I should be able to see an overview of all your projects at once AND I should be able to have the pictures fit into my monitor.
Absolutely. I'm planning on a total re-do once I start to really come out with my work.

>-Why can't I read the Minecraft Instruction Manual ? I really want too man.
Trust me, it's horrible on the inside. I had no idea what I was doing back then, typography-wise.

>-the blue color is too strong, it takes the center of attention away from your projects (also, IK blue is totally a meme color)
Very good point you're making (about the attention-thing). I'll remember that.
Mayor kek at IK being a meme color, it totally is :-P
I never use it in print tho, only in RGB. I don't know why, but I love that pure RGB blue. Feels nice on my cones & rods.

Check out trendlist.org , a website that spots trends in graphic design and categorises them. They even have a 'trendy generator'.
(created by an Alumni of our school, btw)

>You're on a good track with those posters though. I love the WUNDERKAMMER prints. Your sketches are awesome too.

Yeah, that Wunderkammer assignment really shaped the way I handle images. Shout out to /hr/ for all the images.

Okay man.
Maybe next time you're "reviewing" someone's work, try to come up with some actual arguments instead of just spewing your feelings about it. It's called constructive criticism.
> only your mother cares about your feelings

If you're the least bit serious about this graphic design thing you probably got going on in your life, take my advice. It'll help you and others a great deal in the future.

I worked with a BR from São Paulo (I think), young but higher position, and he wouldn't shut the fuck up about how his home country paid a lot more than here in Toronto, and how he regularly got into street fights.

Anyways I dig the Art Deco poster, could definitely be refined and repurposed into something further than a college project.
