Can you make something presentable in Gimp?
try to make something that would impress an average person
bump, interested in results
Very not-pro guy here. I do art and printing for local bands and stuff like that, totally diy, use Gimp for everything that needs digital editing.
Not sure how impressive /gd/ would find this, but it's making me money and it was done in Gimp.

glitch art is trash
takes no effort whatsoever

Yeah and the art in your shitpost reply is amazing.
It was what was asked for.
Another example, lighter wrap for screen printing.

Show poster, lame ass free fonts, homebrew python-fu dither plug-in.

Source image in original resolution for comparison.
made this years ago, as a logo for a soundcloud project.
I'm not sure it would impress the average person but I still think it's kind of neat
I already have this selling as a shirt because people love space shit

>It would impress the average person
It's not bad, and since it's for an EP it's pretty good.

I see no reason to use photoshop except that Gimp doesnt have adjustment layers yet.

i actually wanted to try it again after i saw that they added better color management...
how is stability in bigger projects? some years ago it crashed frequently
>>247810
I've never had crashes, but I'm not sure how big you mean exactly. It gets really slow when working on highres but that's more to do with hardware.
What do you mean with color management? Like ways to convert color profiles?
Have to say I hate what they did with the brush Sliders in 2.8. Still using 2.6 when painting.
I'm probably using some old version 2.8.14, but it still crashes for me once every 3-4 months. There was this bizarre glitch where I opened a new image and it just closed all my other images that were open. No confirmation, no error box, nothing - just gone, dropped when I opened another image. Lost a little progress but I'm obviously not using it for any professional work.

i remember crashes in files with multiple clipped highres images
yeah, color profiles...a big step towards a professional apllication
>>247549
How are you making money? This looks like utter shit. It's not even remotely good in its purpose of looking like garbage.
I'd love to see your other work..

I don't know the first fucking thing about graphic design, just doing this shit because I like doing it. If some kids come along and like what I'm doing and are willing to pay me to do it for them, it'd be kinda stupid to turn them down because some 12-year-old shitposter doesn't like it on the internet, right?
>>247899
i was agreeing with your overall attitude to your work until you tried to insult them by calling them names - literally like a 12yo would do.
>>247552
I like your style anon. Ditch the soft shadows on the text and we're good.
(not the first image you posted tho)
>>247497
You do know the gimp logo was made in photoshop, right?
you can at least make gimp look like photoshop, which is half the fucking problem (hideous useless UI)

Why don't ya just use Krita?

lags like shit
