I have about 6 active projects right now and someone close to me passed away. How do I put these projects on hold in the most professional way. I don't want to do anything anymore.
listen to some radiohead and deal w/ it
Shit happens. Your clients would take a couple days off for it, so they'll understand if you do.

Literally just tell them what happened idiot
Just let them know what happened, and that you won't bill them for the extra time. If they get mad at you for being a fucking human being they're probably not the kind of people you want to represent your work anyway.
If you're taking a considerable length of time off or any of the projects are particularly time-sensitive, I'd consider giving them a discount or in extreme cases referring them to someone else who can finish it up.

It's best to take time off when these things happen. Pushing your limits isn't always a good thing especially when you're a freelancer
I had a friend who suffered a stress related heart attack after failing trying to deal with a difficult client when his brother died. He's alright now but he could have done without it.
Just tell your client that you're going to be out of communication for however long due to a family death. You might lose your log but you won't lose your mind

Absolutely this. Don't sacrifice mental health for money, anon.

Pass me your work and if there's enough we'll split in half the money
