New thread
I have used MPV for a whiile, but i have never messed with the config. Mostly because i don't understand the options.
I mentioned this in the last thread, and someone said i should try out this:#scaling settings
vo=opengl-hq:scale=ewa_lanczos:scale-antiring=1.0:cscale=ewa_lanczos:cscale-antiring=1.0:dscale=mitchell:interpolation:tscale=mitchell:tscale-clamp
#refesh rate sync
video-sync=display-resample
#print subtitles faster during seeking
demuxer-mkv-subtitle-preroll
#srt subtitle settings
sub-text-font="Source Sans Pro Semibold"
sub-text-color="#FFFFFFFF"
sub-text-shadow-offset=1
sub-text-shadow-color="#33000000"
However, ever since i started using this, i get extremely bad stuttering, and I'm not sure why.
Can anyone help me out please?

Your potato can’t handle it.
>>51301401
The thing is, it's not a potato.
i7, 1080p screen.
Back when i used to play games on windows i easily got 60 fps on games like skyrim, batman, etc, etc.
Plus, this config was suggested to me because a different config someone posted was overkill (according to the person who suggested the current one). It did have a ton of options.
So I'm just confused what about this one is causing stuttering.

why aren't the circles centered in the logo
>>51301468
>i7
Cool story, but completely irrelevant for video rendering. Only your GPU matters.
Why even use mpv over mpc hc?
>>51301468
>i7
first off i7 doesnt do much, its the gpu and secondly their is more than one i7. the old as hell ones are pretty shitty.
How can you guys use interpolation?
It looks like shit
>>51301177
vlc is better
Where is the Solaris 11 version?
>>51301537
>It looks like shit
Subjective. Try another tscale, as the tscale vo-option changes the algorithm it uses to interpolate. Try: tscale=oversample or tscale=robidoux or tscale=robidouxsharp
You can also use tscale-clamp to reduce excessive ringing artifacts. If you want to see how interpolation can really be shit, try that horrible SVP crap or mvtools.

I find mitchell to be a lot better than oversample. The only issue it has is between scenes it interpolates both scenes so you're left with a weird after image frame sometimes.

Is bomi and baka mplayer still maintained or are they dead? Any alternatives?
>>51301881
Both of those are just frontends to mpv, so you've been using mpv the whole time. Continue using mpv, just without the frontends.
>>51301807
If I was stuck with a 60Hz display I'd rather use 3:2 pulldown. 24fps is blurry enough already without adding more blur with interpolation. But my monitor syncs to 48Hz and 50Hz so I don't have this problem.
>>51301945
Thanks, is smplayer a good enough frontend?
>>51301968
Most people in this thread just use mpv, there's no real need for a front end for it. If you can't figure out a config thenvo=opengl-hqjust works unless you're on a toaster.
If you really insist on having a GUI then there's the OSC.
>>51301537
I don't, i used to.
I use display-resample with my monitor set to 72 Hz.
How old is the mpv in the deb-multimedia repos?
Am I being keked by package maintainers?
Anyone else having screen tearing with the newest version?
>>51302267
Probably several decades old.
>>51301354
turn off video-sync
>>51302267
iirc it's 0.3.2, from around 2011
mpv it's at 0.13.0 right now
>>51303106
Why?
