>work at Geek Squad
>be the mook who works at the front greeting customers
>actually pretty chill since my store is relatively low traffic
>most customers already have some sort of plan with us, so I only have to do a minimal amount of Jewing
>worst part of job is dealing with phone insurance claims, since they all now carry service fees and many customers balk at paying $150 or more for a replacement
>other than that, most customers are grateful for our service and leave satisfied unless there's a blatant fuck up on our part

How about giving tech help at previous jobs. Every 4 days someone would come in with this piece of shit. I almost had to put up a stage show of one of these cables being "made", it's amazing how hard people don't listen when they have "a cable" in their hands.

>BUT IT EXISTS SO IT MUST WORK...
>What is an adapter, what is a converter?
>...I HAVE THE CABLE HERE IN MY HANDS. SOMEONE WENT THROUGH A LOT OF EFFORT TO MAKE THIS, SO IT MUST WORK.
>Except for the part where you hooked it up and it doesn't.
>BUT THE CABLE EXISTS SO IT MUST WORK, MAYBE IT'S THE TV!
>But you tried it on several different ones.
>BUT THE CABLE EXISTS SO IT MUST WORK
>I can glue together two headers with a cut up power cable does that mean it will work? You need a converter.
>BUT THAT'S $20 AND A BOX, HOW CAN I MAKE IT WORK WITH THIS CABLE I ALREADY BOUGHT
>>

Best Buy were right. If you grandmother can't even handle Windows, she's better off with a Mac.

Geek Squad mook here. We get at least two clients a week with a Macbook that gets pop-ups on Safari telling them that their laptop is infected and to call a number to resolve the issue, wherein they are promptly greeted by Patel and are convinced to let him remote into their shit and then offer to sell them a "protection" package of some sort.

Macs these days are hardly less retard-proof than Windows shit.

>working at tech center at my university

>scott has this dell inspiron he keeps breaking the hard drive on, he must throw his backpack across the room every day when he gets back from class
>we have a dell service contract, and scott's computer is under warranty so he gets free a replacement hard drive every time
>scotts brings in his laptop because windows won't boot again, drive is clicking
>I have to work on it today
>immediately put on latex gloves before even taking it off the shelf
>open laptop
>it's covered in white residue
>looks like jizz
>what the fuck scott
>turn off laptop, remove hard drive
>plug hard drive into dock to backup files
>70 gb of videos in documents folder
>it's all porn
>diaper porn
>holy fuck it's literally 70 gb of diaper porn on his computer
>those are the only documents
>back up his stuff anyway
>install new hard drive, physically clean computer as well as possible
>the cum is fucking caked on to the screen and keyboard and takes major scrubbing to remove
>call scott a couple days later when his computer is finally done being worked on and fresh windows is installed with all diaper porn back on the machine
>scott comes to get his machine
>entire shop becomes silent when he comes to get his computer
>hand computer back trying really hard to hold a straight face
>look scott directly in the eyes when I hand it back like I know
>he takes computer and walks away
>t-thanks

This. I worked at an Apple repair shop for more than a year, it's just like Windows now that Macs have a higher market share. I had to explain to a lot of people how to not get viruses and everyone always though Macs couldn't get them. I even started installing Avast on problem customers' machines so they wouldn't keep coming back in because they got a virus again. Normally I wouldn't bother with antivirus on a Mac.

>work at computer repair store
>see friend selling computer parts to family
>their 12 year old son claims to build computers no problem and wants to build it himself.
>friend / coworker stresses the embarrassingly cheap 50 dollar labor fee to build it, and a 90 day warranty for parts and hardware issues.
>kid wont budge
>parents are dumb enough to listen to him
>"I'll just reference youtube"
>next day
>see a computer sits built half-assed on my part of the counter, with angry parents
>parents tell upon booting the computer it started to smoke and almost caught fire
>upset at me for no reason
>checked the connections: berg connector plugged into a fan output, backwards
>gpu was held in by zip ties attached to the back of the case and the expansion covers weren't removed from the back of the case
>cpu power cable was loose and not fit in all the way
>gpu was missing an aux cable
>cpu's fan wasn't plugged in.

this thing was a damn mess. psu was fried, mobo was damaged, and I couldn't return a few other parts as well because of damage. All of this utter idiocy could have been prevented had they listened to us and allowed us to slave away for 7.25 instead of them blowing through 200 dollars easy.

>>51274992

the fact alone that you opened his laptop to discover residue and instead of informing him of any extra cleaning charge or anything along the lines of general sanitation, you just licked up his cum off his laptop like a faggot and made this pretend story.

I've seen laptops with weed nugs in the corners, busted hard drives with porn, and my laptops covered in grease, but never have I allowed myself to work on a computer that had what I thought was "jizz"

How do you like working geek squad, just got a job @ best buy and I wanna end up in geek squad eventually
>>
>>51275075
are you saying he bought a case with no guts and thought it was going to run? wow the savings he must have been thinking he got
>>
>>51275637
It's not all sunshine and rainbows. After all, your job is dealing with customers that come to you with a problem, so sometimes they come to you already upset, with the potentiality of getting even more upset with the cost of resolving their issue.

However, it is way better than working on the floor and dealing with the stress of meeting sales goals, department upkeep, dealing with the various managers, etc. Geek Squad is much easier, and you deal with far less bullshit.
>>
>>51275682
This. I came from Mobile and while I love phones and helping people work through carrier bullshit and keeping the ones I like as far away from Sprint as possible, I do not miss planograms or sales goals. Not at all. Yeah, we deal with daft people, but most are nice enough.

Business IT Contractor here, the amount of fuckery I get to see and deal with on a daily basis is absurd.

>Lawyer whose firm we support is having issues at home with new HP Printer, go out to deal with it.
>In that psuedo-rich part of town where property goes for cheap as old bastards die off
>House is big enough that he "Setup a 2nd router downstairs in the back of the house" for extra wireless coverage
>Main Router/Modem combo is in front right bedroom/office.
>Main Router/Modem Combo has Wireless Turned off, and feeds a cable to a Desktop right next to it (Which he wants to scan to over the network), a cable to wireless lighting system, and a 3rd one that runs through the walls to the "Router" downstairs. Uses a 192.168.0.x network.
>Router downstairs is setup as a router with it's own network and DHCP. Uses a 192.168.1.x network. Everything else in the house is wireless, including that printer, and operates off the 192.168.1.x network, which naturally, cannot talk to shit on the 192.168.0.x network, since it's a shitty Best Buy router that can't route traffic back to the WAN network.
>Upset that I had to spend 2 hours to fix his "printer problem" due to his poor network decisions I had to reverse.
