8 years of being a Linux user and I finally decided this system is shit and I'm moving to Windows.

Just a few warnings to those who are considering taking up Linux:
- It's slow. Very slow. Comparing to Windows it's bullshit-tier slow. Drivers are sluggish and the system CANNOT take advantage of your new, hypermodern PC. The support is just not there. So when you're using Linux you're telling your computer "I'm fine if you only use 20% of your capabilities". That's like driving a Ferrari to work and back.
- The community is the worst community online. There just isn't a worse community. People are egoistical and unhelpful, they are self-righteous and many of them act like using Linux is a religion. Good luck getting help when something breaks down, you're more likely to get attacked than anything. The community is torn against itself, so people from one distro will argue against people of another distro. It's like trying to get help in the midst of a civil war.
- Things break constantly and all the time. You update a library to a new version and you have a dependency problem. An update happens and your system just breaks. Things that you take for granted one day, may not work the next day. That's the consistency of a Linux install. About as consistent as diarrhea.
- Things change without your approval. You like that new update? Well, you better like all the features as well, you best get accustomed to the new UI changes too. And don't worry, we'll change things up in the next update to not let you relax and focus on your work - instead we'll make you search for common features elsewhere, because it's fun!
- Program support and gaming. Have fun not being able to run professional programs or AAA game titles. But since I'm on Linux and therefore a haxor, it's all good, right? Don't you find it funny how everything you can run on Linux you can run on Windows, but not the other way around?
>>
- Let's not even mention the fact that the entire Linux architecture is decentralized and scattered. Want to get some info on your drives? Oh, just use this obscure command in conjunction with another obscure command to get some obscure shit printed out that you can then continue to translate for an hour or two. Because, you know, living in 1970 is fun.

Fuck Linux.

I saw Richard Stallman at a grocery store in NYC yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

She moaned softly as you stroked her tail, every hair brushing your palm and making your heart beat faster...and your cock harder.
You thought you could tell by her incessant meowing, inviting gazes and ruddy cheeks that she wanted you to go further. To stop playing around. To get down to business. You thought that stroking her tail would naturally lead to...other things. You took every little movement, every little twitch of her immaculate legs to be a big neon sign inviting you in. You decided to take your chances.
But when the tip of your cock slid cleanly into her tight, furry pussy, she let out a cry. 'What the fuck are you doing to my pussy?!' she demanded, her voice screeching, her eyes as wide as the moon, her hairs standing on end. 'Stop it, you pervert! This is my first time!'
But those words fell on deaf ears. It just felt too good to thrust your stiff, varicose cock into her as she moaned for release from your virile clutches. She had no way to stop you. She was your plaything now.
After her attempts at resistance had failed, and her pussy had become wet and dripping with your pre-cum, she spoke again:
'Why me?'
Your balls were ready to burst, as if a dam was being demolished in your groin. Drops of pre-cum streaked down her legs, hanging on to her delicate hairs.
She repeated:
'Why me?'
You were sweating. A bliss so sweet as to be unmatched in your life was building up to a crescendo.
'Why did you choose me?!'
You broke your silence just as you were about to release your seed into her virgin cunt.
'Because you were the default on Linux.' you retort with a twisted smile on your lips.
The door flies open. A great light shines through, blinding the two as they turn to see what is happening. A shadow becomes apparent; stout with long, flowing hair either side of his head.
'I'd just like to interject for a moment...'

I Installed mint years ago, dual boot into windows to game and debian when I'm feeling sadistic
Windows is better for gaming and we saw that in the bench marking last year, doesn't mean Linux can't get there
If the drivers don't work etc you didn't spec your machine for the OS you intended to use, thats your problem not the OSs
Linux will remain the better OS for light weight use i.e. Old shitty laptops
When it comes to IoT (IMO), Linux will be better for any startup than the initial outlay of buying into the full functionality/support of buying into Microsofts bullshit
And a little off point as you're directing at home users but let's not forget the internet is mostly powered by Linux
>>
I'll have to agree on the slow part, under certain circumstances.

Like, for instance, I can use a really light distro on my 8 year old netbook and it'll run nicely, whereas unless I use XP on that it's just utter fucking trash and I can't do much on it.

But for instance, my newer computer where I use a r9 280 would be seen as a sluggish piece of shit while using modern DEs (except Unity, god or Canonical knows why) while flying through Windows.

Now someone will just come and say "just use something like XFCE with compton" or some stupid shit like that. That is not an alternative, that is not comparable.

Many people like to shit on Unity for its lack of customization, but unlike KDE and Gnome it's not a sluggish piece of shit and it still has enough eyecandy and extra non-classic desktop features.

>It's slow. Very slow. Comparing to Windows it's bullshit-tier slow.
You've provided no backup for these claims. If you want to do hardware accelerated 3d shit (gaming, 3d modelling etc.) I'll 100% agree that it's faster on windows. 3d drivers for linux are pretty shit. In anything else linux; at least for me is faster. I fixed this somewhat by turning off some of the ridiculous amounts of services windows runs by default, but it's still considerably more sluggish than my linux setup.
>The community is the worst community online.
I've seen worse, but yeah it's pretty shit.
>Things break constantly and all the time.
Werks for me™ Seriously though, this shouldn't happen unless you try to do a partial upgrade on arch or something. Any stable distro and this won't be an issue. I can't say for sure but this sounds like your fault.
>Things change without your approval.

A fair few games now run on linux, but yes as I said earlier, if you want to game windows is probably your best bet.
>Don't you find it funny how everything you can run on Linux you can run on Windows
You know, apart from any package manager, docker, a whole bunch of window managers and DEs and although this doesn't properly count because there are atrocious ports, most of the GNU userland. Hopefully the whole ubuntu on windows 10 thing will make this less of an issue though.

You have written a lot of bullshit but this is the most ridicoulous one. On Linux you always have a choice. Its completely modular.
Windows on the other hand is not. Microsoft tells you what to install and what not and forces updates down your throat.

Most Linux software is open source and therefor easy to port. Thats a great thing actually, because if I ever have to use another OS I know that I can at least partially keep my workflow intact.
Windows software on the other hand is proprietary and locked down, so if for whatever reason Windows wouldn't be an option anymore you are fucked.

So no, its not "funny" that Linux software runs on Windows, its very much intentional and a great thing.

It's either a GNU util that's been around for 30 years, a systemd command, or a command specific to your distro/DE. If you want obscure then go look at the windows registry. Or the fact that win 10 has two ways of changing any setting, and usually only one works

Dunno, maybe it is with some other distro, but Gentoo is hella fast. The main reason I stick with Linux in the first place.
>community
I don't spend much time on the forums, but pretty much any problem has a written solution, and there are god-tier wikis. Also, developer community is pretty mature. And who cares about everybody else?
>distros argue against each other
Who cares. Look up things for your distro, or use your head if you have to use instructions from another distro.
>Things break constantly and all the time
But when they break on Windows you can't do a thing about them. My distro is not of the stable ones, intentionally so because I want system administration learning experience, and it still isn't as bad as you talk about. Most of the time it works fine, and usually if something breaks, it's because I broke something.
I heard Mint, Debian and Ubuntu mostly work out-of-the-box, though didn't check myself. Hell, if you're that concerned with stability, use Debian Stable. It sure isn't moving slower than Windows. But really, Mint should be fine.
>Things change without your approval.
No, You're wrong.
>Program support and gaming.
Yeah, you're right. It's not about Linux being bad, though, it's about Windows developers having no concept of cross-platform compatibility, an inherently good thing that is easier to do if you think about it from the very beginning. They're only starting to learn that with Android, thank god they did at all.
>not being able to run professional programs or AAA game titles
Wine works alright for the things I play, and that's with me not being able to do a VGA passthrough. Steam also helps.
Still, I give you that point.
>everything you can run on Linux you can run on Windows
It's intentional, because Linux-based developers actually know what they're doing, and there are a ton of libraries for cross-compatibility. They are often very good in general, which encourages cross-compatibility.

>Things change without your approval. You like that new update? Well, you better like all the features as well, you best get accustomed to the new UI changes too. And don't worry, we'll change things up in the next update to not let you relax and focus on your work

This is not true at all in fact this is what proprietary operating systems do and is a significant reason for using GNU+Linux

Daily reminder that the windows codebase is a gigantic fucking clusterfuck and they've basically been trying to fix cracks in a dam with toilet paper.

How exactly? My machines run fine if not faster because I get to chose what gets installed and executed.

>The community is the worst community
>neckbeards are unfriendly
Who would've thunk? Windows community is no different except it has 100% more poo in loos.
>things break constantly and all the time
Sounds like you're a fucking idiot m8. There have been plenty of windows updates that fucked up countless machines. It's software, software has bugs.

>things change without your approval
Likes on that glorious proprietary OS you shill for that hasn't contained any detailed information regarding their updates for decades? Kill yourself you dumb fuck. Microsoft is literally installing OS on machines without real approval.

>muh gaymez muh software
If youre a gaymur why the fuck did you ditch windows the first place? You're supposed to go with an OS that suits your needs. Linux clearly isn't the right choice for you fucknugget.

>Don't you find it funny how everything you can run on Linux you can run on Windows, but not the other way around?
One is full of proprietary shit and the other isn't. Are you surprised?

I can safely assume there is no substance to be refuted since he's clearly making shit up as he goes along.

Why do people bother with dualbooting when they can use VMs for this kind of thing? Assuming you have sufficient ram and a good processor.

> Don't you find it funny how everything you can run on Linux you can run on Windows, but not the other way around?

The moment I realized this I dropped Linux.
I learned a lot about Linux, the advantages of open source and such, but all this beauty belongs to the programs, not I'm a broken and unsupportive system.

I moved to Windows and installed all the good open source shit. It's even funnier that Windows has better open source programs, like Paint.Net and Media player classic home cinema.
