>French law makers have voted for new legislation that could introduce fines and jail time for tech execs if their company doesn't unscramble encrypted data for officials in a terror investigation.

>If Apple's titanic battle with the FBI were to play out on French soil in the near future, the iPhone maker could face a €350,000 ($384,000) fine for failing to decrypt data and its execs could be jailed for five years.

>That's if a new amendment to French reforms outlined in a bill for "strengthening the fight against organized crime, terrorism and financing" survives subsequent votes in coming months.

>The amendment had its first reading in France's National Assembly on Tuesday and was cleared in the lower chamber by 472 votes to 32, Bloomberg reported.

>If it does pass in its current form, companies such as Apple would be compelled to assist French authorities in decrypting data, whether or not the firm held a decryption key to a device.
>>
>>53678439

>This point is central to Apple's fight with the FBI over a locked iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

>Since iOS 8, Apple has said it is technically impossible to unlock an iPhone without knowing the user's passcode. However, the FBI is attempting to impose a court order on Apple, compelling it to create a custom version of iOS to bypass security features designed to prevent a brute-force attack on the passcode.

>Earlier this week, AFP reported that French parliamentary deputies voted for the amendment against the wishes of the government, which so far has refused to introduce laws to introduce mandatory backdoors for national security.

>"The rule aims to force phone makers to give investigators data and it will be up to the manufacturer to use whatever technique is necessary," Philippe Goujon, the Republican lawmaker who proposed the amendment, told Bloomberg.

>"The target is to have them cooperate. The aim is not to break the encryption. The principle is that manufacturers should cooperate."

>Additionally, the bill proposes that every person who doesn't cooperate during an investigation will be face two years in jail and a €15,000 fine.

refugee crisis and islamic terrorism crisis in europe are all artificially created by the government.

they exist only to create fear that can be used to further restrict our freedom.

Already happens in France.
Already happens in Poland.

Welcome to the future.
>>
FUCK YOU FRANCE

MAYBE IF YOU STOPPED INVITING """"""refugees"""""" THERE WOULD BE LESS TERRORIST ATTACKS.

STOP TRYING TO RESTRICT OUR FREEDOM

Hi mohamed

Just don't use a stupid 4 digit passcode. Use long passwords, and even if the phone will let you try infinitely many times, they will never find it in their lifetime.

Whatever the next statist Parliament decides to do to curb "badthink"
Write laws such that the guys you don't trust will have the power to enforce them. Cause eventually someone you don't trust will be holding the reins

>'Terrorist' groups which reside in the middle east who don't make Islam's oldest and most objective enemy (Jews, Israel, killers of muslims) their number one target

Tell me when ISIS have vowed to wipe out Israel? Yeah it won't happen. They're Jew puppets to scare Eurocucks.

How does it make sense to you that ISIS who practically share a fucking border don't want to jihad themselves to wipe out fucking Israelis who've actually shown intention to destroy them? Not only that, they are the enemy of all muslims worldwide.

Use some logic.

Are there even any documented examples of terrorists leveraging encryption to plan their attacks?

As far as I know most of those attacks are planned through unencrypted or backdoored means like Facebook or PSN.

>Russia respecting freedoms
You do know Russia is a country where they make everything illegal and your "freedom" comes from how the laws aren't enforced strictly except for when dealing with people that the government doesn't like.
>>
>>53682654
Oh, you mean russia is now where america will be in 10 years?

Most if not all of the people who participated in the bombings were born in France/Belgium.

>>53679863
They declared Israel their enemy in their magazine and most of the members hate it ... just you know, they struggle to keep their shit together now and terrorist attack on countries that aren't used to it given them much better PR.

Euro- and Americucks might piss their pants over that shit but bombings are "just another day" thing in middle east and Africa.
>>
>>53682677
>where america will be in 10 years?
From what I've heard, the US is going to have to really pick up their game if they want to achieve that.
>>
>>53682679
Yes and no. Even billionaires going against Putin got fucked.

Freedom in Russia is non existent.

Everyone assumes the device held some sort of deeper secret and explanation that if we could just get to it, we could prevent everything bad happening in the future.

There's a 99% chance there is nothing relevant at all on the device, even if it would be decrypted, it would not contribute anything of value to the investigation.

All these assumptions about what *could* be on the device have me bothered. It is a futile attempt to draw attention away from the fact that the government failed miserably to keep its people safe, even with the massive amount of surveillance going on. It seems like it does nothing to stop the threats.
>>
if we ban encryption we should also ban chemistry since its how to make 80|\/|85
>>
>>53680186
most paternity tests are no longer invasive. A small blood sample is all that's needed from the mother.

We can separate fetal cells that crossed into the mother from the mother's own cells.
>>
>>53680116
That is still bad.

If you find incriminating evidence after you've accepted fatherhood, like you find out she had an affair or the kid turns out to look more like the mailman than you, you should be allowed the right to a test and be freed from paying paternity if you were right.

But France is a cucked nation full of adulterers and fatherhood is expressly defined by the government as being "determined by society, not biology".
>>
I don't understand the fact that governments use encryption on their own systems, but don't want to allow it on personal systems? Are they seriously just blatantly admitting to being malicious?
>>
Why would Apple NOT help the FBI decrypt a terrorist's phone?

Are the NSA so incompetent that they can't decipher a 4 digit pin?
>>
>France
It's shit.
>>
>>53683867
#1 it's not Apples fucking job
#2 it would require creating a new version of iOS that could go into the open and affect the security of all iPhones
#3 there is a chance that the shit will wipe itself after 10 tries
>>
>>53683718
Not like they were overly subtle about it.
>>
>>53683867
They cannot decrypt it.
FBI wants them to include backdoors in future versions, which would jeopardize the security privacy of everyone else.

Even that moron Lindsay Graham understood this after someone explianed it to him.
