Why is xiaomi so popular? There are other good Chinese brands like LeTV, Ulefone, and Leagoo with great budget phones.

WV Original Letv Le 1 X600 Letv One 4G New Cell Phone MTK6795 Octa Core Android 5.0 5.5" 1920 * 1080 3GB RAM 16GB ROM 13.0MP
http://s.aliexpress.com/uYviuQni
(from AliExpress Android)

What you can get for the same price as the redmi 3.

>HelioX10 processor
>1080p 5.5 inch screen
>better Sony camera with ois and 4k video recording
>3gb ram vs 2gb
>usb type C

Only advantage the redmi 3 has is better battery life, but the x600 still has enough SoT to get through a single day with ease.

>inb4 meme brand
LeTV is bigger than xiaomi in China, they sell more phones and have roughly 5000 employees.
>>
because mitu is qt
>>
>HelioX10 processor
Into the trash it goes.
>>
>>55630651
MTK? Drop that shit.
>>
>>55630667
Why?

HelioX10 has amazing cpu performance for that price, and unlike the redmi note 2, this phone actually manages decent battery life.

>>55630658
True, but you wouldn't buy a phone for the mascot, would you?

>>55630682
Y tho
>>
>>55630651

>Some company that does internet video has just recently stepped into smartphones
>They're bigger than Xiaomi!!

Do they actually provide updates or are they like 99% of chinese manufacturers?

MTK processor pretty much assures you that you will never have community support.

>>
>>55630689
No updates and no custom roms.
>>
>>55630710
>>55630701
>>55630695
They provide updates, x600 ships with 5.0 but has a marshmallow update and there's a few custom roms, even a miui rom.
>>
>>55630735
shut up
>>
>>55630744
Why?
>>
>>55630735
CM on MTK is shit. MIUI is still Kitkat based. No custom kernel support.
>>
>>55630768
Stop lying.

>>55630735

So wait you don't actually own one yourself?

Why are you relying on some random googling?

Xiaomi pumps out updates every fucking month. Does this company support a product like that?
>>
>>55630651

Because Xiaomi phones at least get dev support eventually, unlike anything with a Mediatek chipset.

Later Xiaomi phones have stayed to gain traction with devs, Cyanogen himself is working on the Mi5. RN3P already has kernel sources.

No use in buying a cheap Chink phone every year just for updates.

>>55630802

Source so you know I'm not just shitposting

>>
>>55630797
Updating the ui isn't the same as updating the os.

Also, do they tell you what they're fixing with each update? I'm still on the Google Play rom on my redmi 3 so I haven't gotten any updates.

X600 has already been updated to marshmallow.

https://devs-lab.com/download-letv-official-stock-rom.html

>>55630802
So you're saying theres no community for custom roms on the x600?
>>
>>55630819
>>55630802
Just to add, I'm not bashing xiaomi, I love my redmi 3, but now that I look at the x600, it seems like a better deal than the redmi and letv seems like a decent brand too. The fact that they've released marshmallow updates for all their devices is pretty nice in my opinion, considering most Chinese brands don't provide any updates at all.
>>
>>55630792
I may not be updated, but still MIUI cusroms is still 5.0. Just one step ahead of Kitkat.

5.0 in general is clusterfuck. I would flash a Kitkat, or 5.1 Lollipop, but not 5.0.
>>
>>55630862
The rom I linked, for the LeTV x600 is miui v7, not v5.

Also there's an official update from LeTV to marshmallow so I don't get what's up with all these people claiming there's no updates since it ships with Android 5.0
>>
>>55630839

Yeah there is a changelog. Admittedly they completely ignored lollipop but here we are with the latest Android.

Essentially the company you're pushing is unproven. Xiaomi is well known enough to assure community support at least.
>>
>>55630900
>the company you're pushing is unproven
They may still be relatively new to smartphones, but I wouldn't call them unproven. Community support may not be as big as xiaomi, but it's still there with AOSP, CM, and MIUI roms, as well as mods and other shit.

I can see where you're coming from though, but what's your thoughts on the x600? Compared to the redmi 3 (non pro) since they're the same price.

I'm just curious why it's not recommended as much as xiaomi since I've seen anons buy other Chinese phones from oukitel, leagoo, umi, and blackview in the spg and csg, but not LeTV.

I think you misunderstood the context of the post. I'm arguing that MIUI is still stuck on 5.0. Just one update ahead of Kitkat.

Then you would be wrong. Are you sure that's your argument?
>>
>Great build quality
>Reliable
>Support
>Cheap
>Never have major weak points, these other budget devices will have terrible camera and over exaggerated battery life
>Dedicated community supporting user suggestions and custom ROMs
>Large variety of products and polished ecosystem
>Established brand and not some startup with hit and miss batches of phones

And LeTV is not bigger. Xiaomi dominate China and India

>>55631131
Other than the large variety of products, how is xiaomi better than LeTV?

Redmi 3 and redmi note 3 are notorious for having a mediocre camera whereas the x600 gets praised for it's camera. It even has ois, 4k 30fps, 1080p 60fps, 720p 120fps recording. Can add my xiaomi phone camera do that?
>>
>>55630962

Xiaomi is recommended more because it's more well known. Hell. chink shit generals start with Xiaomi mascots.

My personal thoughts?

Hardware looks fine. Software support needs to be proven over the long term.

I have a MI4 not a Redmi so I can't really compare directly. At least it seems to have better build quality.
>>
LeTV sounds like a TV brand that uses the reddit prefix 'Le' instead of 'i' (from Apple) to name their products :o)
>>
>>55631168
Apart from this one device what other devices do LeTV have that are better? They're probably selling it at a loss to gain market share. Its not viable in the long run

The MIUI cusroms for non-MIUI phones are stuck on 5.0.
>>
>>55631168
Also

>3000 mah battery.

Yeah no
>>
>>55631168
Not everyone buys a smartphone for it's camera. I have a DSLR with a proper lens for that.

>>55631153
No 3.5 mm audio,

You lost me. Your thread is about leTV vs Xiaomi phones.

Why are you talking about the MIUI rom on non-Xiaomi phones?
>>

But that is 5.1.1?
>>
>>55631216
That's not op, I am.

>>55631191
Some guy on reddit was getting ~5 hours SoT, which is enough for most people to last a day.

>>55631209
While you're right, you forget not everyone has a dslr and their smartphone is the only camera always with them

Yes using it right now actually! What's up?
>>
>>55631216
Because Xiaomi, at least, uses Qualcomm processors. It means that making a cusrom on it is a little bit easier.

On leTV, it uses MTK. That is why the cusroms a usually buggy (CM13), or stable, but not on marshmallow.
>>
>>55631267
Not as good as the redmi 3, but it makes up for it by being better in almost every other way imo. How's it compare to a nexus 5? Mines barely getting 3 hours SoT anymore and I'm not sure I want to dump more than ~A$150-160 on a chinkphone.
>>
>>55631282
How's the battery life?

Is the GPS as bad as everyone is saying?

Is the screen good enough for VR?

How good is call quality and 4G strength?
>>
>>55631293
LeTV also uses Qualcomm for some phones and mediatek for some.

Just like xiaomi.
>>
>>55631325
Battery life is fine I can get through the day constantly using it .

Screen is really really nice but I don't know anything about VR so can't comment

I don't use GPS that often sorry!

I'm still on 3G and call quality is pretty mediocre desu

Best things about the device:

-Design and build quality
-Battery life
-Fingerprint Scanner
-Display
-HALO notification light
-Stock Android 6.0 performance

>>
>>55630651
It's worth it to buy Xiaomi for the relatively high quality of the hardware and developer support alone. Very satisfied with the stable CM build on my Redmi 3, and released kernel sources.
