Are there some performance hiccups? If so, what are they? Does the performance hiccups seem noticeable or are they just so bare that you don't notice them at all unless you're using an FPS counter?

amd drivers are sucktacular, just amazingly bad. shit looks straight out of 2008 and performs just as bad. fucking catalyst AI is still in there, it ruins everything dont bother turning it on. this may be my aging r7 250x a.k.a. 7770, but it has nasty microstutter in csgo. i dont know shit about nvidia or their interface or anything but i hear they have great drivers. vulkan on linux im not sure about i havent heard shit about driver support for it from either amd nor nvidia. i know arch has vulkan drivers for intel cards lmao. if your gonna be gaming stick to windows 8.1 without enabling windows update. booting in 7 seconds on my hdd, loading csgo maps almost instantaneously from my ssd. i dont feel like reinstalling everything to ssd so i just stuck a few games i play on there and called it a day. ive been to windows 10, dx12 isnt worth it. the only reason anyone would use it would be if microsoft held a check in front of their face for it. general consensus is: if your privacy minded and want to play games that you know are for linux and have an nvidia gpu then go for it. otherwise stay on windows. you could virtualize windows if you have two gpus, pci passthrough in kvm works like a charm according to a good shitload of sources. 95% performance of using native windows, really impressive stuff. either way you go, glhf
