I have "Pro" at work PC (pre-installed) and aside from lack of Aero and thus looking pretty ugly, the only thing positive I found is that searching with Start menu works really fast now (probably because I disabled web searching tho - another PC at work, where nobody did, have search function working abyssal slow).

The "anonymous" telemetry data gathers information about the files on your hard drive, the searches you do, the keys you press. Things which are very identifiable! If you're signed into a Microsoft account, all this data is tied to that account. Read the fucking licenses.

1. It doesn't touch any of your private files. Games should work fine. You may need to reinstall some. Rolling back is still unreliable. Take a full image-backup of your system before upgrade.
2. Unknown. We don't know what kind of data it actually collects and sends. We have only their own word they don't and they've been pushing that telemetry shit way too hard. There has to be ulterior motives at play.

Hmm info has me conflicted on whether or not to upgrade, really the only reason i would upgrade at all is DX 12 and the only upcoming game that im going to buy that might use it is mass effect Andromeda and it hasn't even been confirmed if it will or not.
Do i have to fully upgrade to W10 and then roll back to W7 to have the free option of upgrading enabled for later or is there any other way i can have the free option enabled for the future without actually going to W10?

I was one of the first to update when it was available. It kept crashing to black screen after installation was done. Clean install activated just fine. As long as you have internet connection during the upgrade it should register and activate later.

Windows defender turning on automatically is an opt in feature. If you don't turn the feature on, windows defender won't periodically check for viruses. The whole point is that Microsoft sometimes gets virus definitions before everyone else so if a really nasty worm spreads all over the internet, defender can turn itself on and scan for it and quarantine it hours-to-days before other AV software has it in their definitions.
As for the Linux command line, that's extremely convenient for people forced to develop on Windows for their career but could benefit from shell scripting or they want to install some command line tools so they can make their software cross platform more easily without needing to dual boot.
Microsoft is catering to normies and people with jobs, you know .. The majority of their market share? When you need to reboot to Linux to do something, that's less time you're spending using their product. Of course they're going to find a way to keep you using Windows. The less you reboot to Linux, the less you'll feel like you need it until eventually you're running Windows exclusively.
