functional programming is just for computer science grad students who are frustrated that all their algorithm knowledge hadn't gotten them one sliver pussy or industry respect.

it means your code compile without errors.
otherwise, you are dis-functional programming.
Sometimes you just want to use non-strict OOP to do a bunch of stuff imperatively.
Sometimes you want to declare a bunch of stuff in your presentation markup and have the framwork do the rest.
Programming is programming. Anything that manipulates your registers and memory addresses into the desired effect is what you want. The rest is down to how fast your syntax enables your job.
