how come a loud psu or gpu is a bad thing, but you love a loud keyboard? I don't get it.
>>
>>55610736
Those noises are unwanted. They are not a product of your actions, but an unexpected side effect of a product that you assumed would not make those sounds.

Loud keyboards make it all too clear that something that you did happened. Some people like aural feedback. It's like making a turn signal; it doesn't feel complete without a *thunk*.

>>55610736
because it's the direct result of me performing an action, rather than just something passive in the background that's out of my control

Cherry ML switches are fucking horrible tho...
>>
>>55610040
>historically always been shit

Early Cherry MX switches were a lot nicer than they are today, before cutting corners and complacency. The plastic they used initially was more slippery and and a smoother mold so they weren't the scratchy garbage they are today.

Doesn't really matter now that the patents are expired and better clones like gatreons exist, though.

KUL ES87 and GANSS GS87 can be found for around 90-100, check Aliexpress if they're out on Amazon and medhanicalkeyboards.com

Oh, and do yourself a favor and go for clears vs browns if you want quieter switches. Blues are find if you want the click.
>>
>>55614183
Is the GANSS GS87 fucked up or something? Is there a reason it's only $60
>>
>>55614195
>>55614183
I'm deciding between that and the Noppoo Lolita.
Both are cheap for MKBs and I think would be good for a first keyboard to test the waters.
>>
>>55614195

no, it's usually 90 dollars and a great quality non-backlit board.

I didn't realize it was only 60 on amazon right now, that's not going to last long at all.
>>
>>55614212

Noppoos use kailh switches and have a giant "LOLITA" logo, so that's an easy decision when the GANSS is cheaper
>>
>>55614228
It's a $5 difference, and the Lolita logo isn't a problem because I really don't care.

Why are Kailh switches a problem? I've read around and people have mentioned after having both there isn't really much of a noticeable difference
>>
>>55614233
Chink switches with bad QC and no benefits over cherry.

Don't get browns. Browns suck.
>>
>>55614253
So would blues be fine for gaming and typing, both being done very often?
Any other options competing with the GANSS?
>>
>>55614366
blues are good for everything but they are loud as fuck even if not bottomed out because of the click
>>
>>55614381
I don't really mind that, and if it's too bad for my roommate up at school I can always buy dampeners in the future.
I looked into the KUL and it's well upwards of 120 now. I think I'll get the GANSS and then buy a custom set of keycaps.
Thanks anon.

Passable. I am using it for 4 months already.

Prints get paler with intense use. If you look for basic mechanical 100% keyboard for work it's good.

Tested it if switches work correctly with that program they recomended on plebitt and switches in mine were ok.

Getting replacement keycaps is problematic you have to get universal set that contains both iso and ansi key craps.

More modern and plain looking, lower thickness but thicker than the keycaps most boards come with.
They're really good budget sets and are widely available - group buys often have them really cheap. Same manufacturer also does some double shot PBT sets.

You've linked to both an ISO and ANSI set. What layout is the keyboard?
They keycaps won't fit unless you get it right. ISO has the non rectangle enter and small left shift.

European keycap sellers:
http://www.ukkeycaps.co.uk/products
http://www.mechsupply.co.uk/products
http://shop.caps-unlocked.com/products

Massdrop and other places sometimes offer ISO, but it's rare. More European shops will pop up later this year.
There are also places that offer really shitty sets, but you probably don't want those.

Those who replace their keycaps are mostly enthusiasts. Enthusiasts want high quality, which is impossible to get from mass produced backlight compatible keycaps.

v60s are good boards

i briefly had a board with gateron yellows (which are essentially the same as gateron blacks). really adored the look (see picture) but the switches always bordered on just perfect and too heavy, and I couldn't deal. still regret selling it.
>>
>>55625438
I'm really enjoying it so far. A friend recommended I get some thick PBTs to put on it so I'm planning to do that.
>>
How would I quiet a Novatouch upstroke? I have a feeling they would be better for long periods of typing than MX clears, but that upstroke sound is a killer.
>>
>>55622998
Not sure what you're saying here. I bought a majestouch 2 because it was the only keyboard which met my criteria:
- Excellent build quality (I kill about one membrane keyboard per year).
- No backlit keys, multimedia buttons, or other silly gamer nonsense.
- Fullsize keyboard. No silly minimalist, pay-more-for-less TKL shit.
- Reasonable cost. I paid 140 CAD. It's since come down to 120. That's 90 USD, which actually places it at the inexpensive end of the spectrum.

I find it odd that "well made, regular person keyboard" is a niche market, but this was the only one I could find.

Even though it's not gaymer shit it's still an overpriced product with less than optimal functionality that only sells because of the aesthetic it gives. It has absolutely no place on a keyboard that's actually in use.
The only justification is that it really is expensive to make (mainly due to being a niche product) and that it looks nice for when you want to take photos to share with your internet friends.

aside from the top case aluminum, they all use shit quality materials and nonstandard keycap sizes.

Hey guys,

I've been using Apple Extended Keyboards since I was a kid, 20+ years. They're fantastic. Really great clicky feeling keys, built like a tank, pretty easy to pop off the keycaps and clean the enclosure. Here's my issue:

I have an Apple Extended Keyboard (Rev 1) that has a sticky D (heh heh). This sucks for FPS, cuz all of a sudden I'm strafing right until I can un-stick it. I popped off all the caps in the vicinity, and cleaned a lot of dust and gunk out of there, and swabbed the D cap with alcohol everywhere I could. Still sticking. So I switched to my backup Apple Extended II that I picked up for a brief tenure at an office job.

Then I remembered that THIS keyboard has another charming feature, whereby random keys, and it can be any of them, will duplicate. Sso I'll gget sentences like tthis. It's not THAT often, so I'm pondering just living with it... what can I do? Is there a simple fix, or should I just eBay the lot and try again?

Texture is mold related, not material. Personally, I really like cherry profile PBT, but as almost every manufacturer makes the keys very textured (e.g. vortex, enjoypbt), they get dirty really fast. GMK and JTK ABS are pretty gud too.
