What cheapo phone has the best camera. It might be a silly question since they're all probably kinda garbage. But I've had my low tier Lumia for a couple years and all I really do with it is take snapshots and use some basic programs occasionally. I'm just really sick of WP so I'm looking to get an Android replacement, don't really want to spend much though. I spotted an offer for a P8 Lite for 140 eurodollars, supposedly it's kinda sluggish though. I could go up to 200 or so

Anyone else remember how shit Kyocera phones were? It's amazing how unusable most Android phones under $200 used to be a few years ago.

Now you can get a ton of good phones under $200 that runs just as nice for average users as the $600+ flagships.
>>
I'm still using a Galaxy S3 and I honestly find it perfectly alright for most things I need to do. It is, however, running a very outdated version of Android, and I've noticed it slowing down on a lot of websites.

What's a phone that is basically just an S3 with upgraded hardware? ie same size, same or better camera, at least USB 3.0, MicroSD card slot.

There literally s metric fuckton of pajeet forka from the Linux kernel out there, pretty much all of your questions are unrelated and you're just regurgitating shit you read here
Anyways, the main problem to running other things that aren't Android (which implies the Linux kernel and the Android userland) is the total lack of drivers and documentation for the devices
A few older devices have bretty good support, for example the HTC HD2 can run Gentoo, and you would be able to run anything provided you wrote the drivers for such anything, for example a RTOS

Fyi i already own an Xperia Z5 and a HTC 10 but those are for home use only (tyrone would stab me if he saw me rocking that flagship), and it would be a massive upgrade from my alcatel that ive had since 2010 exclusively for outdoors use, to give you an idea of how old it is, the thing runs Kitkat with an unnoficial CM12 rom, has 4 GB internal, 512 MB ram with a 480 x 854 screen, or should i wait for the Moto E3 which is going to be 150 dollars more or less? I want a good budget phone but no chinkshit.

64GB is more than enough storage for my needs, QHD on such a small device is a meme and don't care for VR things and the new update with sRGB mode looks pretty good (better than my 6s desu).

I'm looking to upgrade to a newer smartphone that has a better camera, better screen, better CPU and GPU since I want to play games, etc. My current phone is a trash-tier Alcatel. Carrier is Tracfone.
Budget is very low (trying to stay at $150 or less desu), so I'm looking at used/refurbished models from 2014. The two models that I'm considering right now are the 2nd generation Moto X and the Droid Turbo.
Droid Turbo seems to generally have better hardware, but I'm uncertain. Are there any longevity or burn-in issues with the AMOLED screen of the Turbo? Does it have noticeably better battery life than the Moto X? Are there any better options at around this price range that I haven't considered? Which would you choose, /g/?

I have one and it's pretty amazing for that price ($200). It's got a really well-calibrated display, front facing speaker (only one but still good that it's front-facing), fast fingerprint sensor, and really awesome camera. I'm running N DP4 on mine and it does run hot sometimes (heats up at the fingerprint sensor) and throttles but for the most part, UI remains smooth. From reading forums and etc, it seems like performance is varied so maybe return and get another if you're seeing a lot of lag.
Also, I've dropped mine a couple times and it's held up like a champ.

So I'm in need of a new phone. Right now I'm pacing between the Nexus 5X and the Z5 Compact. I would get the Z5 right away if it wasn't for the price, the 5X is almost half the price.

No memory card slot sucks, but I still like the nexus pure android. On the other hand I really like the Z5s small size, hardware and water/dustproofines.

I have no interest in chinkphones. I would get an LG but they're way too big, the 5X is really too big but I could go for it just because of the pure android.

performance is through the fucking roof, camera is ridonkulous especially in manual mode
doesn't have a magnetic charger and relies on microusb however, so that can wear down over time

Same here actually. I've been researching about the 1+3 and it seems like a perfect device for me. I've been reading about the 6gb ram being a marketing gimmick as the phone aggressively kills apps to keep a good battery life, so it reloads worse than phones with 3Gb. Also the development for it seems to be slower than average due to the fact that OnePlus is a small brand.

The Z5 seems like a perfect all around phone and it too costs 400€ here in Yurop (used on Amazon), but it seems like a very fragile device if the Z3 is any indication. I know Sony software is good and they have a lot of beta programs for their stock apps which get constantly updated, and their customization is quite good. I also know their support, at least here in Shitaly, is top tier (and 10km from my home by the way). With the 1+3 I have concerns about customer support.

I need to find more info on the software on the 1+3, but for just 400€ it seems like a must buy even considering some software glitches that seems to plauge it, so far on all my Droids I've dealt with glitches, so far the least glitchy was the Z3 which was rock solid even on beta firmwares, unlike disgusting Samsung and older Sony phones like the 2011 line and the Xperia S.

Because what the OP3 does for $400 is hit all my checkboxes while none of my deal breakers. At $300+ dollars more, the S7 Edge just doesn't. The lag is real, Man. The lockdown is, too. The fingerprint sensor is the worst on the market. I want something that starts fast, stays fast, has a great camera, and had a great form factor. The OP3 checks those boxes; the S7 Edge trips up getting out of the blocks. I know you don't want to believe it. "How could the 'best' phone be bested by something so cheap and Chinese?" Or perhaps more truthfully "How could something I already spent $750+ dollars on be only above average?" If you're honest about the lag and don't mind it, then I guess you're good. Otherwise, you're screwed.
>>
>>55615284
Not him but how do you feel about stock android? I'm very spoiled by the beautiful Sony customization and I tried stock-ish android on my brother's MotoG3 and while it felt very responsive and lightweight it also felt like it missed the refinement of Sony. For example, the Google stock launcher is DOGSHIT, and I still haven't found a launcher I like more than the stock Sony launcher which is god tier on the latest version available. Another shitty thing about stock android is that it lacks all the cool multimedia shit available on Sony, such as DLNA, screen mirroring and mirrorlink with the car, a proper stock music player (Google Music is dogshit as well, while the Sony player is better than even Poweramp), a good Album (again the stock album from Google is awful), the Sony keyboard is also probably the best on Android from what I can tell, it looks good, it's customizable, you can swipe in multiple languages at once and it's precise as fuck compared to the Google keyboard.

Sony also has many neat features such as native compatibility with a Playstation controller, support for USB Dacs and high res audio output, it's DLNA certified, waterproof, has a camera shutter button, native integrated screen recorder, floating apps and a bunch of other neat little things that you give for granted but then it's absent in stock android and you miss them.

Country: Canada
Carrier: Telus or bell

Wanted features:
Decent battery, for mostly browsing
Must have reversible charging connection
Must be a case like pic related available
Sd card is a preference but not necessary with large internal storage

Size: 5"-5.5"
Budget: essentially unlimited but I'm pretty frugal with my money, I'm willing to spend more if it will last longer, ie I get my money's worth out of it

I've been researching a bit and things like the oneplus3 seem interesting.

Well fuck it. I bought the OnePlus 3, seems like the best overall and also best bang for the bucks. I'll miss the waterproof and the stereo speakers and the beautiful apps on the Xperia but I gain god tier hardware and superior durability (I hope, its's still metal against glass). Hopefully it won't break and won't be defective. The sony service center is 10km from my house, the Oneplus service center is god knows where, so if it breaks it's going to be a major pain in the ass.

Why can't stupid Sony not make a phone that isn't overpriced and fragile as fuck? They already have everything else nailed down damn it.

Bootlooping won't be an issue as long as the phone was made in 2016

Nothing, TouchJizz™ is shit. Install CM instead, i did this with my S4 mini and it works like a charm.

Are you sure? There's a tonne of recent-ish posts on the /r/lgg4 subreddit saying otherwise.

Should've just bought an Apple iPhone instead.

Stop shilling. I had the exact same mindset when I ordered my OP3 and then started comparing it to my S5 But reality bit me so hard when I quickly noticed that the OP3 isn't as perfect as I expected it to be when something so basic as push notifications (due to their shitty implementation of doze) wasn't working. Any other minor issue would be acceptable, but not this. Folks who no longer can return the meme are stuck with clueless support. I returned mine last week. Arvato still needs to respond since the box has been sitting there in Germany since wednesday.

I tested everything. Stock OOS 3.1.2 out of the box; 3.2.0 and 3.2.1. They never fixed the issue. There's a whole forum thread who can vouch for that.

Oneplus 3 vs Xiaomi Mi5, which is better.

Oh and I live in the UK, so the Mi5 4g band support isn't as bad as it is in the US.

>Strange. My OP3 had the severe push-notification issue too. Ever since I installed 3.2.1 days ago my notification problems vanished for my messaging apps. I've tested via different people, having them send me messages through Whatsapp and Hangouts when Doze kicks in. Such messages and also calls come through immediately. Alarm works perfectly too.
