Programmers of /g/.
What is your favourite programming language?
How long did it take to become fluent in your favourite programming language?
C++
fluent? a few days, maybe a couple of weeks.
expert? I dunno. Every time I think I know it all, I learn something new about it.

That's exactly how I feel about C++!
People say there's a lot of "bloat," but I would strongly prefer C++ over Java any day of the week;
Took me about a few weeks to become fluent at C++;

Define fluent? Fluent as in know the syntax and semantics or fluent as in knowing the complete standard libraries?
I went back from C# to plain C and I enjoy it a lot. Simple is good.
I generate the most money freelancing as a .net dev... so C#/F# would be my choice.
Second would be Swift, smooth as fuck language, I wish I could rake cash developing fart apps in it, but all the nice paying iOS projects are in Objective-C due to a huge ass codebase that software houses just don't wanna let go.
After that C/C++ for embedded stuff, but unfortunately, not much to freelance in that field.

Pretty sure fluent would be the former and expert the latter.

>favourite programming language
object pascal, where applicable ofc
>How long did it take to become fluent
a few weeks, after using it only for personal/side projects
C,
C++ is for the bourgeoisie...
I'm using it as a learning tool for concepts while working on my CE degree.
Fluency took a week or so, after having experience with a little C++ and BASH.
Python. It used to be PHP but now I see how fucking trash PHP is
My favorite has changed overtime. Currently, it's C++. I'm making a game engine with DirectX and it's been quite a learning experience.
C++ took me around three weeks before I was truly comfortable with it. It kinda surprised me considering I had experience with Python, Java, and C# beforehand. I could do simple stuff within the first day but that's not me being fluent with the language itself really. I was already fluent with programming in general. The specifics of the language took a bit longer.
