Cars are technology, just like tablets/phones/laptops/raspberry pies inside them.
So, what do you use inside your car to track the engine stats and exceptions, navigate the road and play the music?
Do you have intelligent tracking systems based on RPi so you can track your car in case it's stolen?
Do you even record the road, so you won't get cucked by insurance company when someone crashes on you?

what car, familia?
Does it run free software?
>>
my car is too old for that memecrap

if the CEL goes off i take it into the local performance shop.

Only bit of tech i use is the hidden maintainance/dealer mode which has 3 little led screens that give you accurate temp fuel speed rpm and other shit. pretty cool for a 15 year old car

Has OBD2 but its gm/holdens own variation maybe i just gotta find the right bluetooth adapter and app idk
>>
>>55601662
>bluetooth adapter
Just remember to get the model that turns itself off when no activity is detected, otherwise enjoy your dead battery
>>
>>55601675
oh fuck no i'd never leave it in.

thanks for the protip

bought a $10 OBD2 bluetooth dongle
my entry level car (mazda2) has bells & whistles.
i dont even have a normal gas gauge. its a fucking 8 block lcd display.
it does have an aux port so i bought a 20$ 3.5mm headphone to bluetooth adapter. did that for 2 reasons. didnt want cables all over the place and my shitty chinese Zte phone gives off static through the headphone jack.
i bought a dashcam to record all the shitty shitty austin drivers.
that is the only tech in my car...well besides my $10 12v air pump and handheld 25$ rechargeable jump-start battery.

Never bothered to check equipment, still I see little point in the touchscreen nowadays.

Check engine light.

Common sense. Sometimes my phone, atlas if going long-distance
>play music
Shoebox of tapes. 1983 was a surprisingly good year in music.

Botnet

>so you won't get cucked by insurance company
mfw everyone will soon be cucked when insurance companies start to force tracking and telemetry down your throat while the manufacturers store your history of visited locations in the cloud for you or lock your car remotely if you're behind with the monthly leasing rate.
Wee need to make GNU/Car happen soon.

I seriously doubt that...

Anyway, this is actually interesting. Maybe it could start with GNU/Tractor. If there is a market with anough DIY-inclined farmers that are fed up with this shit, it might actually work. First farming equipment, then cars.
Also, really looking forward to when we import all this legal nonsense into Europe with TTIP.

the only way to diagnose error codes is to use call a john deere technician.

http://www.wired.com/2015/02/new-high-tech-farm-equipment-nightmare-farmers/
"Every time the sensor blew, the onboard computer would shut the tractor down. It takes a technician at least two days to order the part, get out to the farm, and swap out the sensor."
...
"I couldn’t even connect to the computer. Because John Deere says I can’t."

Holy fuck, you americans are fucking stupid.
Protip: try to actually use it to start the car.
Protip2: you can't.

2001 750il - NBT update - data is pulled mostly from the K-Bus and checked against GPS as needed. TPMS also displays tire load and temp in near real time. It's not an ideal layout, but it works. I'm still toying with some of the settings.

2011 Taurus SHO - Stock - No decent way to pull data. Considering a retrofit of the 2013+ gauge cluster and the Sync 3 unit. If I keep the car...

If you have to regularly drive, you are living in the wrong place.
>>
>>55603773
I still live with parents and I travel 130 kilometers everyday to my company.
Since I tank my car with LPG (which is cheaper than your mom's pussy) I can completely ignore these costs. I save 90% of my salary every month, and that means after 4 years I'll be able to BUILD myself a house and live on my own.
If I'd move to the city I got a job in I'd be left with only 20% of it. I'm 21 by the way.

So no, not necessarily wrong place.

So, how do you know how much I earn?
Do you even know in what country I live?
