If you have high speed unlimited internet, is there any reason to not keep your network open?
Back when I had internet that good I honestly never felt it was restricting me.

What do you mean by "keep it open"? As in, have unprotected wifi?
>>
>>55593528
Yes.
Although software to give you priority for bandwidth over strangers would be good.
>>
>>55593578
'Til Johnny down the road downloads that torrent that gets you a warning, or Uncle Henry next door downloads cp and the cops knock on your door in the morning.
>>
>>55593596
Is it possible to track who downloads what?
I'd imagine the correct type of modem would be able to identify the location of all connecting computers.
>>
>>55593596
This.
The proper authorities hold your ISP responsible, the ISP holds you responsible, and you can only hold strangers responsible if they agree to terms of use allowing you to do so. Just leaving your wifi open means you are legally responsible for the online activity of strangers. Not really wise.
>>
>>55593658
Well then you can make them agree to terms of use.
>>

anon pls
>>
>>55593389
If you have everything you want in your house, is there any reason not to keep your front door open?
>>
>>55593682
Terms of use aren't going to mean shit when the FBI shows up at your door to arrest you for distribution of child pornography.
>>
Everyone who can access my network through Wi-Fi are able to get the same speed themselves so why should I offer them it for free?
>>
>>55594796
>What is QoS.

Having an open wifi network is retarded, but you can give priority to certain clients quite easily.
>>
so anonymoose can't DDOS websites or pedos can't download cp using your network?
>>
>>55593389
Awoo~
>>
Even if you have no CP they can find your reputation would have been dragged through the mud whilst they look. Nobody will trust you and your life will be in tatters. Shit sticks.
>>
>>55594812
Did you not understand my question? Why should I give them something for free when they can buy the same service for the same price? It's hardly considered luxury, even people on welfare can afford a 1 gbit connection.
>>
>>55595097
Ah. Your statement made it sound like you were worried about someone torrenting and making it impossible for you to stream porn or something because they were hogging all the bandwidth.
>>
>>55593628
To a degree, yes.

But why would you want to? Just secure your shit.
There's no reason for liability.
>>

Ever heard of a little something called legal liability?
