Why the hell doesn't 4chan support VP9 yet? Is there any

Why the hell doesn't 4chan support VP9 yet? Is there any logical decision behind this?
VP9 is superior to VP8 in terms of decode performance, quality per bitrate, and it's quite literally the future.

No, they don't do anything with the video file(except thumbnail generation and retrieving the resolution, which is trivial with ffmpeg which they probably use). They just need to remove the line of code preventing VP9.
