A few days ago I was looking tablets and for some reason apple ipad was always put as best choice. My question is: why?.
No, I'm not making this thread to trash apple. I'm pretty sure there are already 2 or 3 threads about that on the catalog. I ask because I feel in need of a second opinion. what do you use ipad or other mobile apple product for?. I personally have always found anoying the way apple makes mobile

i use my ipad to manage my website. Transmit for SFTP, Coda to edit files, and prompt 2 for ssh.
then also games and twitch.
and then also because i can send and receive messages on it since i have an iphone.

It actually works pretty well. I had an android phone before and I see no use to have a file manager. If you want you can download a file manager app to store all kind of files you want and opening zip files. Some of them are able to download any video on the internet.

I use mainly for copying game saves back and forth from my tablet to my Xperia Play. It's really nice for games that have shit like only allowing three save slots. Also comes in handy for organizing downloaded files and moving media to and from my server

I use iOS for several different reasons, not having a file browser isn't going to stop anyone.
You can do pretty much anything with iOS without a dedicated browser. iOS uses apps to manage files. Sure it doesnt have the same functionality but I can still do anything I need.
A file manager would be useful if my phone was my only computer, but I dont keep all my files in my phone. Its really far from being a priority.

I use iOS mainly because it looks good.
Apps look better and consistent with the system UI. Android is a fuckfest in this department.
I like iOS widgets better. Android widgets are simply ugly, inconsistent and waste a lot of space. iOS has a dedicated widget tab, I like that, and you can access widgets from the icons using 3d touch
iOS icons look good and consistent. I used Android for years and tried hundreds of different icon packs but there were always some ugly icons.
The iOS launcher is also much better, I dont like having duplicated icons in a drawer, having all my icons in one layer is lot more efficient and since iOS icons look good that is not a problem.
3d touch features are also awesome, like hardpress on the edge to multi-task. Swipe to return is also 100x better than using a back button.
I can do everything I need on either OS but having used both I simply like iOS better.
Having timely software updates are also a big bonus.

Actually, for me it's about the speeds. I have a 100GB data cap on my phone plan, but if there's one thing I hate it's waiting. Similarly, there's a reason I have a 350 Mbps connection at home, and will be upgrading to 500 Mbps as soon as it's available on my address.
In addition to this, despite never dropping below 4G on my daily commutes, my mobile connection is somewhat flaky, resulting in even my ssh connection to my server lagging like crazy at times. I don't want to even think about streaming music or video on such a connection.

As an iPad owner I can assure you they just werk and they're built like a tank, they simply last forever.
3 years ago I bought the first gen iPad Air, its running the latest iOS with literally no lags. I got a leather case and a screen protector and it feels indestructible.
It's the ultimate bed computer in my opinion, also try finding an Android tablet from 2013 that isn't shitting itself on an old deprecated Android version.

Because that's how long it takes for the server to respond to a request. Frankly, when it comes to streaming media, it makes a bigger difference than download speeds.
