If you don't use your computer primarily for gaming Linux isn't actually that bad. I have been using Xubuntu for 4 days and I can say that its more user friendly than I expect, coming from someone who always used Windows. If you play games just duel boot.

I have no problem with "normies". The fact that you automatically associate normie with stupid implies you might.
I don't care who or how many use it. I suppose more people might mean better documentation but it is already pretty good across the board. I only care that there is a free OS that provides me a transparent way to use my computer.
You can look up resources online. Just Google solutions when you run into problems and eventually you will learn to use the right tool and read the manual. Just takes time. Good luck.
