What are Servo and Rust going to do to Firefox in layman terms /g/?

Security, first and foremost.
At least the first few components that will ship in Stable.
Better security and performance. I compiled it to try it out but it wouldn't start so I sadly couldn't try it, not sure what went wrong.

Servo will bring performance and security, while the smaller rust components are mainly for security, I think.
Check out servo's webrender.

Servo is a seperate, new engine, with the goal to do layout in parallel.
Small parts of servo may be ported to Firefox/Gecko: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Oxidation

I heard Servo might impact the addon-space in that addon devs will need to rewrite their addons,
but that the benefits are high performance improvements in new addons.
Is this true?

Definitely possible, but I don't know much about Firefox's plugin architecture or APIs

Less shitty language - faster compilation, easier to maintain, less testing needed. This is about Rust. Servo supposedly has better architecture - highly parallel, no need to deal with legacy code. The browser will be more responsive, one loading tab won't kill performance of the other tabs. Only good things if SJWs don't fuck everything up.
