Hey guys. I have to buy new router because old one (D-Link DI-524, 8.5 years, 802.11g) is dying. I'm thinking about pic related. Thing is, my laptop doesn't support ac/5GHz, it has atheros ar9285 card which is 802.11n. It's possible I'll get some device capable of using 5GHz in the future but I'm mostly interested in the present. Yes, I can't afford anything better at the moment.

Would this new ac router give better results than ones that are only supporting 802.11n? Or should I stick to cheaper n?

so you don't have a single ac devices? stick with cheaper n, some of them are like n450 on 2.4 band.

OK, thanks. I was mostly considering this because it's surprisingly affordable, last time I checked ac routers were much more expensive. The difference between them and n is still there though.

Would Asus RT-N12vD be a good choice? Main problem with current one was stability after passing through two walls.
>>
In the end I decided to get TP-Link TL-WR841ND because it was much cheaper and seemingly just as good.
