Is it worth getting a degree?

Some info about me:
I have a 2 year diploma in Networking and Systems.
I can work at any entry level helpdesk/noc job

Also worth mentioning that in my country the University courses are sponsored by the government which means no debt

This depends on
1. Wether you want to study a few years for a degree. During this time you'll likely not have time for a full time job if you're planning to study full time.

2. Wether the degree is worth it. You have to view it on the long run. How much extra will you have earned in 5 years after you've graduated, ect. And do you want a job that is propably more challenging and carrying more responsibilty than the job you can get right now?

Think about it carefully, hell, go to an open day or contact the uni if you want to know more about your future prospects with a degree. Why are you on 4chan senpai?

It depends, can you get experience while youre in school?

A degree may not affect your ability to break into the field, rather be your upper ceiling. A management position could be filled from within, and by someone with no degree and just experience...but its more likely that someone will have some sort of bachelors degree at least.

Thanks for the honest reply. It's rare nowadays on this sub.

Regarding point 1:
True. I might only be able to find a shitty part time job that is completely unrelated to my field or end up working as an intern for 3 months during the summer time.
I guess it a matter of investing time at this point.

Regarding point 2:
I definitely don't want to be stuck in helpdesk or tier 1 jobs forever.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.
I'm on 4chan to kill time and maybe learn some new things and memes in return

1. Will it be cheap/free in your country?
2. Will you be good enough to get a job in the field you want to work in with a degree?

If the answer to either of those questions is 'yes', then go for it.

Yes
>2. Will you be good enough to get a job in the field you want to work in with a degree?

I can get a job with my diploma so that's an automatic yes

Always worth it if you're interested in a field and want to educate yourself.

If you're just in it for better career opportunities, then probably.
