Hi /g/ !
Spotted this weird thing on an atm earlier this week, just under the card reader.
I'm no expert but it seems like some custom nfc reader mounted like crap and badly hidden by a too small sticker, no ?
If anyone can enlight me a little about what it is/does and how...
Just being curious about how things works, as usual =)
Thanks !
was it by a tourist trap or heavily trafficked area?

oui oui, smelly wine baguette
Yup kind of a busy street in a big city, not that touristic but still many persons passing by this atm daily for sure.

it's definitely possible that it was some kind of skimmer then. Especially in Europe, for some reason they're very common over there.

It's because dental work is expensive.
Yeah, you confirm my initial guess as expected =)
If someone could explain how this hit can supposedly read your card infos and how it stores/send it... that would be great ^^
Didn't seemed to be any camera around to see pin codes being typed but i might have missed it ....

google RFID. it copies credit cards rfid chip info then unholy people use them to make duplicates. then use it for evil purposes.

i thought the euro chips made them un-copyable?

And this is why I hate my own country, when I realize we still have retards like that who were born five centuries too late.

Do everyone a favour and phone the company that maintains the atm.

it could also just try to complete a transaction, someone already tried to just use a nfc terminal and walk around with it on a busy street because they don't require a pin with small purchases
so RFID it was...nice ref pic btw
I'll find more info easily now that i have the proper term to search for.
Many thanks, curiosity satisfied !

dunno about that. i'm no expert but people almost always find new ways to crack security.
