There's no need to make such generalisations. I know it's not a large sample, but I've met and got to know some nice people, who aren't just serving platitudes.
The racism or xenophobia in Japan is entirely of the naive kind, due to little knowledge of or experience with non-ethnic Japanese people. The type in Europe on the other hand is more informed.
One issue in Japan is whether people will feel integrated and Japanese after being there and obtaining citizenship. It's a hard question to answer, because the word 日本人 means a Japanese citizen but can also extend to issues of race or ethnicity or even where you were born.
I'm not going to say that it's any worse than in some European countries though, especially with the recent shifting more to the right. But there are certainly people in Japan who are happy to integrate you into society as an X系日本人, just as there are everywhere else.
