Depends on the model. This is like thinking all Dell laptops are terrible, without considering a Latitude.

I bought an s2415h and it has zero dead pixels and zero bleed. Luck of the draw really.

I had a pair of HP ZR2740W's for a bit. Love them. Lost them due to a power event.
AOC is cheap, but they do pretty well. I like my 22" $89 monitors.
