Want to get into app development for iOS. Which would /g/ recommend as a programming language?
I'm already decently versed in C++ and I assume Objective-C would be similar to it in syntax so that's what I was initially considering but after doing some reading online many people recommend Swift if you're just starting app dev.

I think youre pretty much obligated to use Swift for iOS development, if not, just pick one of higher level languages that can make your code platform-wide compatible with Android, Windows phones and maybe web/pc too so you have a wide market.

Care to explain why? Genuinely curious why this is the case.
Swift all the way.

Stay mad.

>c++ similar syntax to obj-c
no. obj-c has hideous syntax, prolly only functional languages are uglier.
learn swift. why? cos apple is moving everything to it from obj-c. which is good cos its a rather nice language.

And that my friends is how you learn java.

Ad this is what Haskell feels like, note the subtle differences between functional and oo programming.
Wow mods are definitely asleep.

Here we have an art installation of the Arch upgrade process.

because aplel will probably deprecate ObjC after a few years.
Apple likes to deprecate APIs/languages to force developers to use always the latest.

trust me, no one is forced away from obj-c, they run from it giggling like a girl delighting in their new found rainbows, unicorns and bunnies.
