How useable is Android without Google services?
Does it feel like a serious handicap?

nvm I googled it myself and found the answer I was seeking in seconds.

Yes?
No?
Maybe?
Depends what you're looking to do with the system. Does the task relate to google?
If so, yes. If not, no.
Why did you make this thread?
I use microG. And no.
I need to use a modded old version of hangouts though .
It's on the xda microg thread.

I didn't try it but, no, not at all. Plus you don't need any tweaking to disable them. Preloaded apps can't be uninstalled, but they can be disabled.
However, I gotta say, having my calendar, contacts and emails synced seamlessly and automatically is pretty convenient. I wouldn't want to give that up. It's probably feasible without Google services but I'm not sure how. Outlook almost offers the same package but doesn't allow you to edit your contacts and has some compatibility bugs with the calendar. Otherwise you could try setting up your own server for these things.

microG won't download on my phone. It gets stuck on 0%. Any idea why this happens? Any alternate sites to download the apk?

Where are you downloading it from? Their site, or the F-Droid app?
If nothing works, just download it at your computer and transfer it with an usb cable

I tried both sites.
I hope it downloads on pc. Thanks anon.
