Anyone remember how long before it was leaked that the iPhone 7 wouldn't have a headphone jack, that anon posted "the only thing keeping phones from getting thinner is the headphone jack" threads every day? What the fuck was that about?
>>
>>55522585
I think it had to do with the thickness of a 3.5mm jack and how that would prevent a phone from getting thinner than 3.5mm
>>
>>55522594
Well obviously, but it's like he had some type of inside info long before inside info about the iPhone 7 started coming out. It's like he was trying to use /g/ to prime people to the idea of a 3.5mm-jackless phone.
>>
>>55522594
3.6mm at least to account for the jack well and phone itsself
>>
>>55522585
>the only thing keeping phones from getting thinner is the headphone jack
What a load of bullshit. The only reason applel wants rid of it is because they want to sell normieshitters more of their headphones and such and the normieshitters will eat that shit right up.

>>

So they are no longer going to include a pair of headphones with the phone?
>>
>>55522609
Anon just saw the coming obvious design "''''feature''''" and there was talk of replacing the standard for a while now. One should not attribute malice to that which could otherwise be described by boredom.

Headphone$ $old $eparately.
>>
why exactly do phones have to be thinner than they currently are again btw?
>>
>>55522932
Realistically they'll probably give you a little plastic adapter thingy that'll stick out and either get lost or break your lightning connector so the anti-apple blogs don't have a bitchfit and apple makes more money repairing and selling these new headphones and $29 audio adapters
>>
>>55522979
They don't.
I want my phone twice as thick so I can have 500-800% more battery life, since the battery is like 40% of the phones thickness.
Imagine how usable the phone will be if we make them decently sized.
>>
>>55522884
I'm tired of everything having to be thinner, bigger and made of shit like glass because muh aesthetic.

Make a phone optimal thickness for a good battery, big enough so it's usable and comfy and make it out of metal and plastic so if it drops it doesn't explode and shatter.

Phone companies are so obsessed with shit no one actual cares about all for aesthetics.
I realize this is an iPhone and people only buy it for the looks, but come on
>>
>>55522609
He did not have any inside info. He was a shitposter just like /pol/ residents who are nothing but shitposters.
>>

>>55523031

Oy vey, but how will we make a profit if the battery isn't so small that it's useless in a year? Bad goyim need to be better consumers.
>>
Why do phone companies care so much about thickness?

90% of people are going to put a case on their phone anyways because of the fear of damaging their perfectly fragile and aesthetic phone. Without the thickness it feels much more prone to dropping anyways.

when will phone companies focus on battery life instead of this stupid shit?

Just a thick enough phone so it can hold a good sized battery that will actually last a full day's usage. And made of metal and not shitty glass.

Who the fuck actually thought making these phones out of glass was a good idea?
>>

This is why the Oneplus One is great. The back has sort of a fine grain sandpaper texture, so it doesn't slide out of your hand too easily, and a metal bezel which seems to protect the screen. I've dropped mine few times in the last year and a half that I've had it, and the edges seem to take all the force of the fall.

that feel when you plug samsung headphones into your lg phone and play and pause are separate buttons on one so pause actually skips tracks and play is a toggle, whereas 'next track' is defined in the huawei standard but only on their budget phones. also if you use the wrong bought-from-mall-stand adaptor, hitting previous track on apple earphones activates the voice dialler but not the voice assistant, which are two different things on samsung phones. this is good, i love technology it's fun and i'm glad you don't just 'plug things into other things and they work' any more

>>

>Meanwhile, nobody raging at Motorola for doing exactly this with the Moto Z.

Not exactly true, but frankly who gives a shit? Moto doesn't have the brand power that Apple does. Notice how everyone is always playing catch-up to what Apple does. Phones are thin because Apple says it's good, lots of laptops are now aluminum because Macbooks, etc, etc. Consumers the world over covet Apple products and no matter what happens, the way that Apple does things is the most correct way as far as most consumers are concerned. Apple getting rid of the headphone jack means most Android phones won't be far behind.
>>
>>55527855
>APPLE WHY DO YOU KEEP CHANGING THINGS?
Unlikely as accessories are nowhere near as ubiquitous now as they were during the era of the 30 pin dock connector. I'm not even an Apple fanboy, I own none of their shit, but that dock connector was fucking great. They should have updated it instead of killing it.
