Fuck, thinking about dial-up gives me the shivers. I remember having to leave web pages open while I did other things so they could load properly. It took me weeks to get through the information I look at now in an hour or two. I remember the first time I used cable internet, I fucking nearly came and called mediaone to get my own installed immediately. It's funny thinking back on that how spoiled I've gotten. Now I get pissed off if one site in hundreds of tabs takes a second or two too long to load up.

The raditz saga just aired in my country so we were amazed at a 5 sec gif of vegeta turning SSJ beating a purple guy (I believe it was a movie scene)

We thought the red-haired guy that gave trunks the sword was actually a "boom phase" super saiyan

We didn't have internet at home so we used my dad's office server. The room was cold as fuck.

Not grainy enough desu.
File size is ok, kind of at the upper-end. A lot of images were under 100k.

Dude, that's like 2003+ you're talking about, you mean more like hes 1024x768 monitor while we still are on our shitty 800x600 boxes.

Then again the 1500x1000 image resolution

way to big, this is more like it
>>
>>55533657
It's not too big, just kinda big. I could download a 1.44 MB disk image in 15 minutes on my 14.4K modem. This pic would take several minutes, and most were smaller, but it's not impossibly big.
Also the pic comes from a BBS archive. I got it from textfiles.com or similar place.

gif was easier on the CPU where jpeg was faster to download and better to store

I used a 2048*1536@60Hz monitor in 2002.
I liked the 1280*960 at 90Hz more though.

Yikes.
This and Animewallpapers.com was dope.

But my favorite small time site was kasiwagi
Better yet, it's still up, un-changed.

I think it's from textfiles.com, and possibly from one of their CD images (cd.textfiles.com). I just don't remember exactly.
I tried to upload the original to /s/ "Vintage Ladies Pt 3" thread but upload failed and it gave me this error: "Image resolution is too small". I just don't get it, but whatever.

I seem to recall HardOCP doing this. I think it became more of a running joke than a genuine warning.

And yes, HardOCP is something of a lost tribe that should remain out of contact with the rest of civilization.

Aweb, IBrowse, Voyager... can't use CSS enabled ones because of memory limitations.

Probably your system/configuration is to blame.

Ah, memories. I used to use Tin on my Amiga. My dad is the only person I know who still uses newsgroups. I imagine them to be solely populated by 50-60 year olds who never made the jump to web forums and then social media.

Nice time, but I fear there was nothing good except of nostalgia.
HDD noises are comfy though.
What's fun, we got faster Internet connection through 3G earlier than we got an ADSL modem.

My dial up days lasted significantly longer than they should have.

My dad and I had a Mexican standoff of cheapness. I was still dropping from frozen throne games because someone would call.

Get on my level.
>>
>>55541315
actually had this virus once. Nearly ripped the phone socket out the wall as I yanked the cable.
>>
>>55541494
Took me a long time to coax my dad into ordering broadband. Finally got it in 2003.

He was paying for a dialup subscription and a second phone line, for a service that we could only use at evenings or weekends because he didn't want to pay the peak time charges... and could only use on one computer at a time.

You would think having a wireless 24/7 internet connection for less than what you're paying now sounds like a no brainer but... my dad doesn't like change. He was with the same ISP for over 20 years (dialup and ADSL) and finally changed last year when it became clear they were never going to provide a fibre service.
