Also technically "Mac OS X" or "Windows 7" is just a version number. Like "RHEL 7," or "Linux Mint 17."
Technically, there are only two proprietary OS's, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. There are many "distributions" of operating systems which incorporate the Linux kernel.

I would say that you could split Windows up in to at least 3 OS's, given that it was a DOS front-end up to 3.1, partially DOS-based for 95 and 98, and its own thing with the NT kernel from 2000-onwards.

When My Old P4 XP rig died I picked up an old Imac g3 for really cheap and used that
As my main machine for something of 4 years, it came with OS9 which I later upgraded the memory and
upgraded it to Tiger, After that I got my First ever Laptop, a 2009 Intel Macbook with Snow Leopard [Still have it btw]
My Dad handed me down an old Vista Machine and when that Died I built my current rig Which runs 7, I upgraded my Macbook to mavericks
For my last two years of highschool and it still serves as my Laptop.

Top 3:
Easily Windows 7
Windows XP
OSX Tiger

Worst Three:
2000 [I had it on a shitty old system so My experience with it was horrible]
Mavericks [Worst out of the three OSXs that I've used, Only upgraded due to end of support for Snow Leopard - However Last Good OSX, Yosemite/El Capitan can fuck right off]
OS9 [I couldn't do much other than light web browsing and word processing until I upgraded to Tiger]

I really enjoyed using Arch, but I need my adobe creative suite. I'd dual boot between Windows and Arch, but I like to do everything in a single OS if I can. Overall Arch was the easiest for me to use. I miss Gnome Shell, though. If I didnt sell my macbook for a thinkpad I would've switched back to OS X, but I've grown to really like Windows again after having a strong distaste for a large part of the decade.

And I think that's where I'm going to stay for a bit. We'll see what Redstone does for 10 before I make the decision to jump or wait.

There's a smattering of Mac stuff in there as well, but with the exception of an old Xbox 360 dev kit, I never owned a Mac. Now when I need one, I just spin up a VM. And there was some SGI stuff w/ Irix 6.2, but again, they were never really daily's.

I have tried 8.1, its better with classic shell. 10 is garbage. Ubuntu and Debian wouldn't work on my laptop and win7 updates almost killed it.

Crippling anxiety and depression. On meds for the anxiety now, has made a huge difference.

So now I just sit, cold and alone, at home making 65k writing code that wouldn't be necessary if the company could get its shit together. It leaves me way too much time to waste on 4chan and imgur. I'd worry about job security, except that the company had some REALLY bad experiences (multi-million dollar loses and lawsuits) with oversea developers.

Not wanting to cause my family the pain is pretty much it. I've had two cousins and a friend kill themselves (one hanging, one with heroin, and one car exhaust), and I saw the pain it caused their families. My family hasn't done anything to deserve it, I'm the only fucked up one.

That has changed a bit over the last few years. My niece and nephew are pretty amazing. I piss off my sisters spoiling the hell out of them, but its not like I'm doing anything else with the money. I want to stick around for them.
