You can buy $20 cases. Sometimes even ones with a PSU.
I'm all about being a cheapass when I can, but for this, you're just wasting time. Or worse, being a hipster because you want le-ironic case.
Built my last PC with 500€ worth of pieces in a 90s case, got rid of all the outside plastics and painted it black
