Hey /g/ first time building a computer and I've got everything but the graphics card, pretty much anything under $450 I can get ($1200 build).
Right now I'm looking at the Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390X, is there something better?
If you're looking to spend more than ~$250, are willing to spend up to $450 but not over $600 then the only logical choice is a GTX 1070 at this point. It beats the RX 480 and the older AMD offerings at everything and is actually pretty cost efficient($ per performance pt is reasonably good compared to value king RX480) despite having to overpay a bit due to scarcity.

I'm already over budget by about $50 (originally was a $1000 build but did not factor in peripherals and extra shit) should I just say fuck it and get a 1070? Or should I wait for the next AMD 1070 equivalent, my goal is to build this thing by the end of summer.

How much? I'm not OP but I'm also looking to upgrade from a r9 280x and am waiting for the cheapest EVGA GTX 1070 to become available on newegg to shoot.
If you want my 2 cents, I think spending $450 on a GPU in a $1200 build is a bad idea. GPUs tend to advance at a much faster rate then your CPU and the rest of your system. Spend more on the CPU/Mobo/Memory/PSU and have a good system you can keep for 5 or 6 years and just put a new GPU in every couple years.
buy intro rx480 nitro and for the saved buck a free sync monitor.

AMD is the low end king. The RX 480 for $200 is the best value no matter how you cut it. If the GTX 1060 proves to be better, that's still a $300 card.
Nvidia is the high end king. If you have $400 to spend on a video card, you won't do better than a GTX 1070.

OP here, is this good /g/? Pretty much same price as the sapphire nitro I was looking at. All I'm looking for is good 1440p quality and something that will last me a good 2-3 years.
