This is all I really ever need. I've never really needed a calculator but yet again I've only completed AP Calc (so far).

I fucking hate this shit. Was forced to use it, never got used to it in college.
It is usefull but somehow I hate you.

just use octave if you want FOSS. It has most of the functions built in. a lot of graph shit and some functions doesn't work well or aren't implemented so don't expect a drop in replacement

Sounds good. I didn't think there was going to be anything FOSS that could replace matlab, though I am interested in any 3D graphing utility

People working in the financial sector swear by that thing. 35 years and nothing has changed, other than a slightly faster processor. They could've made it even faster but market research showed that people didn't trust the results given by the calculator if it appeared onscreen too quickly.

if you want functional, use R.
It is vastly better if all you use is the scripting part.
The syntax is a lot more forgiving than octave/matlab.
And with octave, you miss out on the big parts of matlab, like the toolboxes.

So if you need the toolboxes, use real matlab.
If you just want to calculate something and plot it, use R

>>
>>55476343
i own a ti84 plus beside it, but i hate that one because of the huge bulk and battery usage. The fx-991ex was perfect for every calculations that i needed so far, it's solar, and the input interface is comfortable and flexible. Only that it doesn't do graphing, but i'm yet to see a solar graphing calculator on the market.

>tfw you fell for the ti-84+cse meme

Then why are you using a scientific calculator. A $5 wal-mart throwaway calculator can do that just as well.

Cell phones are good when precision doesn't matter, but TI-84 plus silver edition will get you through college and then some.
