Hey man, you mess with security cameras you say? Can you give me a direction to look for hi res security cams? My condo association wants to put cams up and since I am a 'tech' guy they want to know what are some good cams. They want to be able to zoom in on the image recorded and actually be able to see detail, face, license plates, actual useful stuff, not end up with a grainy useless shit image. Is HD-TVi the way to go? They want like 10 of them to put around and monitor our parking areas and grounds.

I'm the lead programmer for a small company.

Nothing too crazy, though it does mean that I can use whatever technology I like to accomplish things. As a result, we have done really well and have incredibly efficient ways to develop things.

if the interview consisted of package managers and distros, expect the job to extremely junior level. I would guess 97-99% of this board are actually very amateur when it comes to skill level, don't let that cloud your judgement of your own skill. Have a similar skill level or riced up desktop is very different than working as an actual sysadmin. You should work on learning as much as you can and automating as much as you can.

Software dev doing backend shit with Java/JMS

Some of the Java "ecosystem" is fucking terrible but the job is good, so I don't really mind.

>Some of the Java "ecosystem" is fucking terrible
you mean the whole entirety of Java EE
>>
>>55490189
Pretty much, but nowadays I'm mostly working with SE applications and some of it is still shit, though I'm actually very happy I've managed to steer away from EE.

Commtech 4 for Comcast

I do maintenance if one of the maintenance guys is out sick.

Absolutely love my job. I especially love coming into houses where the kid is NEET and trigger their autism when they try to be cool and think I don't know shit about their linux distro for internet installs and prove them wrong.

Also clean up your piss bottles, it's groce and yes I tell people about that shit.

Oh the joys of working in a TAC , I bet you have seen some shit. Which product team do you think has it worst at Cisco?

My vote goes towards anything Firewall/NGFW bullshit.

Currently underpaid developer, who is able to produce production code, not just UML and vaporware - which is not the default in my field. Interview next week for a better, $60k position, well let see how that goes.

Moralfag, could not work for banks, facebook surveillance and stuff.

I rejected Java offers in the past because of the ecosystem. Everyone starts with hibernate, spring and all the mess for the simplest projects. Cognitive load en masse and little to show for except for neat patterns, that the customer could not care less.

>>55491778

last time I looked at a java dev conf video, the speaker seemed super annoyed by the stuff he was talking about. like really good at it but also kind of cynical and depressed. found out, he was kind of a big deal in his community, so unpleasant to see. look at other conference vids, you see hipsters, wannabees, neckbeards, cool guys, future shit. look at java conference, see enterprise devs, depressed by years of building crud castles for the suits.

Desktop Support at a place that doesn't have any sysadmins/network admins, which means I'm also a severely underpaid sysadmin and network admin.

I work at a grocery store but am A+ certified
I wanna get a tier 1 tech support job but I
1. have no transportation of my own yet (don't even have my license)
2. am very nervous when it comes to interviews

Tons of certs
2 degrees
only make 80k though
only have 3 yrs experience in IT so Im not complaining
>>

You're not fucked. Interviews take practice and there's no reason to be overly nervous. We all get a little nervous during interviews, so you're not feeling anything that others don't. If you can get to the grocery store you can get to your helpdesk job
