how well can the compute stick run minecraft?
>>55468197
1080p 30fps
Like shit.
Try older games (early 2000s-2006 max)
>>55468213
does it ever overheat? what about streaming games
>>55468218
It handles bf4 with 14fps, minecraft all shouldn't be an issue.
>>55468244
i think you can stream Bf4 from steam or xbone to it without a problem as long as the wifi is good

>>55468225
It's thermal throttled.
You can't really do much with it.
Though streaming isn't very intensive.
>>55468244
Depends on the stick. But the cheap 8.1 compute sticks run like garbage.
And I bet even the newer cheap ones run like garbage.
OP is much better off building some cheap PC if he doesn't need the portability.

I saw a video of some guy playing minecraft on an atom.
It ran smooth but explosions lagged like a motherfucker.
It was the ideapad 100s. Newer atoms Di with better ipc and graphics might be enough.
Alternatively just build an a8 7600 pc for a little bit more and much better performance.
>>55468342
Or an intel mini-itx build if size is an issue.
>>55468342
Hmm the compute stick uses quad or dual core atoms processors. The newer types use the more expensive m5 processors. I think the main problem with them is the thermal output because they tend to get quite hot which causes thermal throttling and lowers their performance.
>>55468406
Throttling shouldn't be an issue for atoms.
These pc sticks are very aerodynamic for the effective heat dissipation
>>55468406
>dual core atoms
Yeah from 5 years ago. New ones are quad core.
Can it be used as seedbox?
>>55470654
Why not use a $15 orange pi pc instead?
