So u disabled the sound chip in the bios and am now just using NVIDIA's HD Audio. It's surprisingly nicer, or at least I think it sounds better.

I have my speakers connected to the headphone out of my monitor. Works well.

Can anyone recommend a proper sound card?

Interesting. I didn't know you could fit a MATX board in the ITX prodigy like that. Did you have to mod it at all to make it work?
>>
>>55461868
I used to use an Asus Xonar DG a few years back that was better than any onboard audio at the time for a rather cheap price. The PCI-E version, the DGX, is a little more expensive but might be what you're looking for. The only reason I'm not using the DG anymore is because I got a new motherboard with no PCI slot and had some spare cash floating around anyways, so I splurged on an Asus Xonar Essence STX.

It looks fucking sweet and its near silent even with the generic case fan.
Only thing I'm wondering is why my CPU temps aren't as good as I thought. CPU goes up to 60 degrees during gaymen. Is it because of the proximity to the GPU? Should I rotate it so that it's parallel to the GPU? But then it'd have no real exhaust on the bottom.

i highly recommend avoiding pascal for the time being. plagued by WAY to many issues.

from screen flickering to high latency issues being caused by the drivers.

All of the issues are for people with Gsync or high refresh rate monitors

>>
>>55464469
the latency is not.

every single pascal owner right now with every driver that supports pascal causes high latency. nvidia confirmed it in the official nvidia forum thread about the dcp latency issue. whats sad is it took nvidia over a MONTH to knowledge it.

the screen flickering mostly has been affecting gsync and high refresh rate users, but a few have reported it on standard 60hz displays as well. took nvidia nearly a month to finally ask people to start posting in their specs to narrow down the issue.

i've been a raging nvidia fanboi since the geforce4 days but this launch has been absolutely horrendous and the last year their quality of drivers have been awful.
>>
>>55465043

Nice exhaust air guide.
>>
>>55464414
I've been eyeballing the fuck out of this case. Your temperature issue is clearly because of inadequate air flow. Sitting below the gpu like that is trapping the heat. Assuming your cooler is facing the right direction, you're also getting back pressure without an exhaust fan. Get some scythe slipstreams or any slim fans to bring cool air in through the bottom, and force the heat out through the back.

>>
>>55473030

Because people who cant actually afford 2 high end cards recommend it to people who DO have the money, despite the fact SLI almost never works as you want it to.

If the ones recommending SLI had ever actually used it, they'd tell you fuck no never do SLI, just get the best single card you can.
>>
>>55472473
Not exactly good, it doesn't exhaust as much of the case air as a result, I would expect HIGHER general temps with this kind of a set up
>>
>>55471168

I personally keep my h100i on intake, but I have an R5, so putting it at the top defeats the purpose of having a case designed to be quiet.

>>55464697
>>
So I need a new case for a H110i that I won in a raffle. I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me an opinion on two cases.

Antec Twelve Hundred V3 Black Steel:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP3PB1519&cm_re=full_tower_blue-_-11-129-100-_-Product

DIYPC Skyline-07-B Black SECC:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353028&cm_re=full_tower_blue-_-11-353-028-_-Product

I was going to go with the Skyline but I see some reviews about it being a poorly constructed case that is cheap to boot. I wanted a case that has the potential for good cable management.

Does anyone have any experience with these cases or any cases with blue LED's? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Not gigabyte. I bought one and I found out their boards have had issues since they came out with the audio drivers freaking the fuck out completely randomly and cranking the volume up to max and seriously distorting it. The only fix is a restart or uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. 100% driver issue that they just wont fucking fix.

So I have all the parts coming in for my first self built PC and will be able to assemble it all next Friday.

What should I be worried about? I have watched quite a few tutorials and have installed PSUs/GPUs in friends machines in the past.

Main fear is mounting the Cooler Master fan to the CPU because there are like quite a few parts that screw into the mobo around the CPU chip.

I took a close look at it when it was vibrating and accidentally knocked a battery under my case. When I fished it out I touched the PSU's filter and it stopped. >>

Just follow the instructions for the fan, most of really fucking simple. Bar that, I'm sure someone has an "in depth" tutorial on youtube installing it.

And despite what everyone says, you do have to put a little pressure to seat the CPU. You'll try it and sweat bullets the whole time thinking you've broken it when its actually fine.

Hey guys. Just got back from Microcenter. Returned my 16GB kit of 3200mhz ram. Bought 32GB 2400mhz ram in its place. Z170 REFUSED to play nice with ddr4-3200. Nothing worked. I was barely able to get 2800mhz @ CL18 working when the ram is rated for 3200mhz @ CL16. Ram I have now is corsair 2400mhz @ CL14. Benching with prime95 as we speak.

Also replaced the cooler. The dual tower heatsink I had was becoming a bother. The fan clips rattled, and the thing was so bulky, it was almost impossible to reach anything without removing the cooler. The mounting system for it was so convoluted, this was always a 15 minute ordeal. Current cooler is performing great.

I have a GTX 760 in a different city which I will use, which should be fine for the games I play that actually run fine (60fps) on integrated graphics lol
>>
>>55498341
Sorry to say but 90% likely it was you. I've never had any issues getting DDR4 3000 or 3200MHz modules running.

They dont play nice with the XMP profiles, but if you set everything manually i've never had it not work besides having to tweak the system agent voltage for stability.
>>
>>55498425
Tried everything. Maybe just a bum kit? Tried XMP, manually setting voltage, timings, speed. Tried bumping ram voltage. System agent voltage. Cpu VCCIO voltages. (Recommended by Asus and corsair).

Its odd. The pc would restart fine after setting the ram to 3200mhz with proper timings and leaving the BIOS. But would give me "overclocking failed!" During a standard restart or cold boot. Press F1 to get to bios, exit without changing anything, and would boot up. Ran prime95 and memtest86+ fine. But without fail, cold boots and restarts would kill it.

Could have gone and gotten another similar kit off the shelf but decided against it. Just want plug and play. I'll take slower more stable ram over faster and unpredictable.
>>
>>55498425
not that guy but gonna throw my 2cents in

i have 2*8gb sticks of ddr4 3000mhz
they absolutely will not hold any frequency other than 3000mhz under any kind of setting/configuration.

i read that other people with the same kit are able to achieve 3200mhz, but others were only able to achieve 2133mhz.
i run a 6700k overclocked and am unable to find any other ram setting to even POST with. 3000 is plenty fast, and i can't complain that it runs flawlessly at the exact specification advertised, but it's just odd to me that it's been the only kit i've ever purchased in 15 years that wasn't in some way modifyable
>>
>>55498512
Sounds like me. People with the same board and 3200mhz kit as me were reporting XMP worked flawlessly. While others complained of exactly what problems I had.

Others said they had the same issues with gskill stuff too. This problem extends to many Asus motherboards. There is an open thread on the corsair and Asus forums about the issue too. Even bios flash updates did nothing.
>>
>>55498547
sucks man
>>
>>55498547
Has nothing to do with G.skill. They buy their RAM from the same suppliers as everyone else.
>>
>>55498696
No it's everyone. Just super fast ram from any company. I'm saying that gskill, crucial, corsair. All have complaints about the 3000+ kits not working with various z170 boards.

the imc for the x99 platform can't go much higher than 2666 generally. the z170 is supposed to go to the moon, but it's intel's first attempt at a ddr4 controller that can actually handle high speeds. kaby lake should sort out the problems
>>
>>55499047

Broadwell-E is limited to 2,400hz atm. Some higher MHz ram works but not all of it. I watch a guy test out 10 different kinds higer than 2,400hz and only like 1 or two worked.

Its not like one or two, it worked instantly (ignoring XMP anyway).

Also, literally no articles exist about major issues in broadwell-e memory frequency support, if it was really only a few kits out of the majority that worked and ALL the others didnt, you'd think SOME tech site would pick up the story and write about it.

Show me something besides you claiming, a claim that directly contradicts my personal experience.
