When I plug it in via display port my monitor displays it but it's very very very dark and slightly fuzzy, changing the brightness etc does nothing, seems like a hardware issue but the monitor works fine via HDMI and the cable works fine in other computers and also the HDMI in the GPU works fine.

Looks like the 3gb version was just a speculation and in the end there is only a 6gb vram version of 1060 while the 3gb is probably meant to be 1050 laptop card. I think it'll be a case of jewworks games favouring the 1060 slightly, with the 480 otherwise outperforming it, and then in dx12 the 480 will have a good 20-25% performance lead.
And 2 years from now the performance difference between the 480 and 1060 will be night-and-day in favor of the 480 because nvidia has this stupid need to gimp their older cards while AMD actually improves them.

Is it just me or AMD recycles architectures too much? I mean, before GCN, all we got were Terascale refreshes. Now we're getting GCN 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc., all with marginal upgrades instead of focusing on a new architecture.
