How do I get a gf

Are there any decent GPUs for mid-range gaming (autism simulators like Minecraft, Terraria, and last-gen games like F:NV) at around the $200-$250 price range? I was really hoping the 480 would be my savior, but unless Sapphire or someone else manages to fix them they seem very iffy.

Hey guys,

I have a question about system requirements.
I've really enjoyed the Fallout series so far and I was hoping to play Fallout 4, but I don't have a lot of money on hand at the moment.

What are the lowest grade components you've used or know you can use to play Fallout 4?

i can't tell if my psu is dying , or if my cpu is dead.

after years of abuse my 8320 couldn't hold stock clocks and the "optimized defaults" in bios set the vcore at like 1.45 and like i said it couldnt hold stock clocks it was at 3.3 ghz max when the base clock should be 3.5 while being hot as SHIT with a high end noctua cooler that is installed properly. i was getting weird glitches like video glitches nonrelated to the gpu which i also know is functional , and hdds that i know were functional were disappearing from device manager, and the bios would occasionally freeze which is not a good sign. Now the computer doesn't even post if i use the 8320 , but i threw in a athlon x2 550 and everything works PERFECTlY . the drives were all being seen, no glitching.

I can't tell if my psu can power the athlon because it's a shitty little dual core but not the octocore because muh tdp.

psu testers are useless because they don't test under load .

any ideas

ntsa but sure they do. Ports start to fail, you get intermittent blue screens, RAID performance drops.... ALL components age and then ultimately fail.

If you look before and after microscope images of components as they experience heat stress and small amounts of electrostatic discharge you can see them literally "show their age" as all the nice pretty straight lines become bent and jagged

Okay, how about a USB wireless mouse, but Bluetooth keyboard?

Pros:
- You don't need an extra mouse to set up both devices with e.g. a Raspberry Pi. The USB mouse will be plug and play, which you can then use to pair the Bluetooth keyboard.

- Bluetooth is more important for the keyboard than the mouse, since I want bluetooth for using with my iPhone or an Android tablet. A mouse for these devices is superfluous, but a keyboard is very useful for long typing.

Best combination?

DVI-D is a digital signal (like HDMI), whereas VGA is an analog signal, so yes, you need an active (powered) converter.

It's usually a little box that plugs into the mains (or USB) for power. If it isn't a box, it won't work. It needs power to actively convert the signal from digital to analog. So something like pic related will not work.

The alternative is to plug in a graphics card that has VGA output. But does that motherboard have PCI slots? Looks like it might not.

I can find them on Amazon UK. Maybe if you can't find them on your country's Amazon, you could get one imported?

Stupider question here.

I have a 280x. It has a few years of usage but I haven't been pretty rough on it, it's going pretty good.

So right now, new GPUs are coming out, there's the 1060, the 480, and I was wondering if it'd be a good idea to jump into that, but then I realised I don't even play videogames anymore. Just the usual stuff that doesn't require a decent PC.

Should I really upgrade now by selling this fucker and shelling out an extra hundred eurodollarydoos or just wait until this fucker dies and spend some more in the future? What would you do?

I need the equivalent of an easy bat for Linux and macOS.

The "bat"will be use by customers, so no chmod etc etc in the Terminal, they just need to double click and that's all.

>>55456860
yes, connectors that do not have the four pins around the horizontal slot do NOT output VGA, and so an active convertor is required to connect to a VGA monitor

you're solutions are;
- a motherboard with VGA/DVI-I/DVI-A output (the latter two only need the cheap little pin-adapters as people are showing)
- a graphics card with the above connectors
- a monitor with DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI input (hdmi > dvi-d also only needs a cheap adapter)
- an active DVI-D > VGA convertor

Tried in the Headphones thread, but also going to try here for better results, since nobody actually answered me there.

After using cheap chinese wired earbuds all my life, i fed up with them lasting so little before they start malfunctioning, save for some cases where it lasted 2 months or a bit more.

Since i tend to walk around a lot and i've also been jogging for a month or two, i've decided to go with a wireless pair of earbuds, maybe that way it won't malfunction so easily due to the cable moving all the time, and due to my REAL tight budget, i've been looking at this:

Also, almost all of the 1-2 star reviews talk about how it doesn't stay in place, and some say that the sound quality is bad; not that it's cheap breakable crap, and if i used chinese all my life, i'm sure the sound quality won't get worse.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/yX8Mnn

Any major problems with this i3 gaming build? Putting it together for a friend who is finally upgrading his 2008-era gaming PC. He's going to use his old graphics card for now and buy something new a little further down the line.

My two big questions are:
>Is the i5-6500 worth the extra $100 over the i3-6100 (for the majority of games?) ?
>Is a micro-ATX motherboard okay to use in a normal case?

My buddy basically wants a "build and forget" system (i.e. no overclocking or frequent hardware upgrade/tinkering). Since he won't be changing motherboards for a while, I'm wondering if I should push him to spring for the i5 in order to be more future-proof.

On a somewhat related note, I can't think of a single reason to go with an AMD processor. Their cheap 6-core gets beat by the skylake i3 even in multi-threaded applications.

Poorfag here.

Can someone clarify why would average pc gamers would want to spend $500+ on a PC build? Besides the luxury and bragging rights, I really don't get it. Do they really notice the difference between a $320 build and a $500+ build or is it the placebo effect at work?

Pic related. Building a cheap gaming PC. I already have a GTX 650 Ti Boost so I thought of going an APU + GPU combo but then the benchmarks comparing a Celeron G1840 to other APUs showed that the G1840 is just way above them in most aspects.
>>
>>55460663
Any larger case should be able to use a smaller mobo, generally speaking, but there's no point in getting a bigger case unless you're actually going to fill it. I would say yes, it is worth going for the i5. CPUs and mobos stay competitive for much longer than they used to, so shelling out a bit more now is a good investment. What card is he planning on using? He might actually be better off with the igpu
>>
>>55460663
>no graphics card
>i3 for gaming
>not even Bronze-certified PSU
>Thermalkek

Just go for a Haswell/Skylake Pentium. The G3258 and G4400 are good enough for gaming. I doubt he'll need a new HDD so just buy a 500GB one and then spend the rest on an SSD where actual improvements can be noticed. Also, EVGA can be a hit a miss if it's not Bronze certified PSU and you could get a much cheaper case instead of that Thermalkek one.

Since you're also in Canada, check DirectCanada.

If for whatever reason you need to reinstall your OS or something happens that makes the data in the root partition hard or impossible to recover, your home, where most of your personal configs and program data is, is not lost.
