Got my idle CPU temp down. Replaced the stock cooler with a CM 212, also cleaned and re-applied the thermal paste. I used the one that came with the new cooler. Probably should be a few degrees cooler still. At this point I don't care though, and I'm too lazy at this point to unscrew the new cooler (which was a bitch to put on) and re-apply some new thermal paste.

I'm just happy that my CPU isn't on fire.

jesus christ OP, and i thought idling at 38c was high
ive got a slim stock cooler on artic silver ceramique
its about as shit as you can get for air cooling

I'll probably eventually take it out and get some arctic thermal paste. For now this is fine for me, my pc was running fine even at those high temps.

played some Mad Max on highest settings, maxes at 60c. A good 20-25c drop from before, yay!

Use HWMonitor since that will save your high temps.
