>There are people RIGHT NOW who still browse 4chan without HTTPS.
What's it like knowing that your ISP sees every lewd image your browser automatically downloads and every shitpost you make? What's it like getting the knock after your browser automatically downloads an image that your country declares illegal? Why haven't you joined the HTTPS master race yet?
>>
>>55429387
HTTPS won't help you if you use Google Chrome buddy
>>
>>55429387
>He thinks this is anything but a placebo
The NSA just decrypts HTTPs and saves it anyways, and they have backdoors to 4chan. Try using your brain next time.
>>
>>55429387
never noticed this, but I do remember installing the https everywhere extention
>>
>>55429387
Excuse me if I'm mistaken, but why would HTTPS make a difference in what your ISP can see of your traffic. Assuming you aren't using a VPN I thought an ISP can always see your traffic if they want to?
>>
>>55430282
SSL is end to end dummy
>>
>>55430282
Well yeah. But it's encrypted, so what are they actually viewing?
>>
>>55430282
With HTTPS your ISP can only see the domain of the website you're visiting. For example, they are able to see that you're visiting 4chan.org, but not the full URL or anything beyond that.
>>
>>55430299
Fuck man, I'm not smart okay.
>>55430302
>>55430308
Thanks, I should've figured as much but know I have a better understanding at least.

So in that case and in light of >>55429790
is HTTPS everywhere worth getting if I use Chrome?
>>
>>55430353
No, Chrome records and sends the full URL of every page you view to Google.
>>
>>55430367
Thanks! I see there is no escape.
>>
>>55430395
vivaldi?
>>
>>55430395
kek'd mate thanks for the hearty chuckle.
>>
>>55430462
My curiosity has been piqued. Very neat browser.
>>55430472
I try, I try.
>>
>>55429813
i was going to say this.
They probably control the CAs
>>
>>55430299
Lol, as if your ISP is not sniffing encrypted packets and have private keys.
>>
>>55430367
Only if you have phishing and malware protection on
>>
Need a lot more than that to avoid the NBA
>>
>>55430308
They can see the subdomain, too. That's sent in the clear during the HTTPS handshake. So, they'll see 'boards.4chan.org'.
>>
>>55430395
There is. It's the matter of you acknowledging it's existence or not.
>>
>>55430528
I don't know how cryptography works, the post.
>>
>>55430608
Well okay Morpheus.

But really, do you mean something like chromium? Excuse my general naivete.
>>
>>55430603
It might be better to say that SSL prevents ISPs from seeing everything after the TLD.

>>55430528
If they did your browser would throw an invalid certificate error. That is, unless your browser doesn't follow standards or has been modified to not warn you of such things.
>>
>>55430500
The only thing that is holding me back bit is the lack of sync function between devices
>>
>>55429387
its ok anons ,at least some guys at the ISP have fun browsing my history. I mean this is one of the best reasons to use 4chan nowdays.
>>
>>55431203
I have yo memes now
>>
>>55431219
at least they dont browse 9gag. i mean they need some quality material in their life dont they? Also why protect what you are browsing on 4chan , when SJWs fight for your right to like feminine penises and furries, anime is literally normie tier and no one cares if you are a /pol/fag freetard or a cuck. I mean you can come out on the streets and tell everyone you are a cuck and no one will even hit you unless you touch them.
There is no reason to hide who you really are at this point in history , only to lie to yourself or your family senpai.
>>
All I know is HTTPS is faster, so I use it.
>>
>>55430462
>>55430500
Doesn't resist browser fingeprinting based on javascript or CSS. But nothing really does, right now.
>>
>>55431388

This seems retarded. Anyone can elaborate?

>>
>>55431394
Good to know.

Thanks for all the anons that have posted ITT. Learned quite a bit I didn't know, but probably should have.
>>
>>55431498
You don't need to be one. If someone else posts an illegal image you can potentially be in a lot of trouble simply from viewing it in plaintext.
>>
>>55431498
pedos dont use internet, they live in the 90s and still rip cds and get cought selling them on the street or something. Or usually get caught by children reporting them. Or get caught trying to find children on some stupid dating/social media sites. Basically they are either too stupid to use computers , or too stupid to use them safely. If they can go full leet haxxor mode i dont think they have time to go out and actually molest children so its problem solved.

What's it like living in some 3rd world country where your ISP can use that information against you?

DNSCrypt doesn't hide the IP address of the site you're connecting to.

>le chrome is botnet meme
I have yet to see anyone on /g/ provide evidence of that.
>>
>>55433145
I'm aware. My point was that it still offers some plausible deniability for sites on shared hosting/behind a CDN such as Cloudflare. Although there are still some tricks to go by (e.g. measuring TLS packet sizes to find out what page a user is browsing), they're not particularly reliable.

Does it now?

Did you try turning off telemetry?
>>
>>55433283
>Intel on the list.

Reminder that modern AMD CPUs have just as much "botnet" as Intel's offerings.
>>
>>55430395
>What is, VPN?
>>
>>55433283
It's proprietary, you don't know everything that happens behind the scenes
Also Google itself tracks your browsing habits and such so it wouldn't surprise me if Google chrome encourages it as well
Why not just use chromium if you like that type of browser?
>>
>>55433461
I don't like Chrome at all. I just think you guys calling it a botnet without even having the slightest hard evidence are disingenuous.

It's easy to boot up wireshark and analyze the traffic your software sends but nobody who actually has a stake in this bothers to for some reason.

And if you're really adventurous, maybe try to use a decompiler. Or maybe read the actual EULA to see what kind of privacy invasive features it reserves the right to have. Oh but that requires effort and research, you'd rather just call it a botnet to make yourself feel smart on an anonymous imageboard and call it a day, right?
>>
>>55433569
>EULA
the w10 EULA never said anything about taking screenshots of the desktop and phoning home with them but it does that
>>
>>55434022
>taking screenshots of the desktop
Does it really do that or are you just making things up. Regardless of that there are reasons other than the botnet meme that keep me on 7.
>>
>>55434278
No it actually happens
Packet analysis reveals it
Windows 7 just works
>>
>>55429387
>falling for the https placebo

LOL
>>
>>55434592
If that's true shouldn't everyone's credit card number and website credentials be circulating in the black market? HTTPS and SSL exist for a reason.
>>
>>55433101
>There are laws protecting us from that shit in Australia
Such as?
>>
>>55434022
The video that showed that happening also showed that the guy had all telemetry features enabled and that he decrypted those screenshots using his "special RSA decrypting software", whatever that is.

No. If you're concerned about privacy, you shouldn't be using Windows in the first place. Chromium has been proven to have backdoors and security holes and there are alternatives (Iridium browser, Inox browser, Ungoogled Chromium).
