Why are you still using deprecated chan technology /g/?

I like writing bots, and everything can talk to an IRC server since it is so simple.
Also, it has a ton of integration written for it that doesn't exist with other forms of chat, and there are a lot of very helpful IRC rooms.

irc bots are a great way to learn socket programming

IRC is probably the only instant-messaging method that's fully open-source. This includes both the server and client, and when properly set up it allows for perfect secrecy of messages in transit and storage.
TL;DR everything else is a botnet.
join us on irc and we'll tell you
irc.rizon.net #4chan

Irc isn't open source, it's just a documented protocol. There are heaps of other chat protocols that are fully documented as well
>>55428881
how is IRC bad? everyone takes "new ideas" from IRC, everyone tries to imitate it, yet it's still alive.
in fact, IRC is used mostly by techies, unlike your shitty phone apps

did people switch to IRC?
>>55434093
one would hope. the powers that be everywhere finally found out that hanging out in a chatroom all day instead of doing work is counterproductive. (big surprise, right?)
>>55428881
there's nothing that really beats IRC at what it does
