What is the best Laptop cooling solution?
>>
Opening the laptop up, clearing out the dust from the fans and radiators.

Underclocking/Limiting CPU clock speed using power management.

Never doing anything intensive.
>>
>>55416875
lol what? Buy a laptop that doesn't overheat in the first place. If it does overheat, take it back and get a refund.
>>
>>55417131
How'm I supposed to get a refund on a ten year old laptop that is long out of production?
>>
>>55417213
Sounds like you missed your chance OP. Stupid fucker. Always run memtest86+, OCCT, and Furmark on every new system. Return it right away if it acts flakey at all.
>>
Buying quality hardware, in other words a MacBook

Pic related if you cant afford custom look snake oil cooling.

>>
>>55416875
I just bought one of those. From what people say, seems like it really works. Should arrive tomorrow.
>>
>>55417326
Bruh are you dumb? After ten years dust piles up and thermal paste loses effectiveness
>>
>>55416875
Throwing it in the garbage and building a desktop
>>
>>55416875
The ones found in real business/workstation laptops, not in gaymer acer trash.
>>
>>55417957
>Bruh are you dumb?
You might be if you can't clean your laptop during 10 years of usage
>>
>>55416875
i have a similar product from a different/cheaper brand and it works quite well.
>>
>>55417957
I have of course torn it down, cleaned it up and replaced the thermal paste.
Shit was baked solid, I had to chip it off with a knife.

Shit still runs slightly toasty for comfort though.
>>
>>55416875
Get a 6w celeron cpu.
>>
>>55416875
None because they all suck ass. It's not the fan that's the problem but the heatsink. Shit's just too dam fucking small to be able to pull enough heat away above 2.3 - 2.5 GHz. If you want serious CPU performance then build a desktop or wait for someone to sell $2,000+ laptops with Xeon-D processors.

Congratulations. You've ruined the flat surface needed to allow heat to transfer. Each jab\scrape of that knife creates dents and bumps. Now the space between the CPU and the heat sink will be even greater and transfer heat even less effectively. You have all but ruined a good piece of technology.

Next time, use rubbing alcohol.
>>
>>55418896
I wasn't exaggerating when I said the paste was baked solid.
It was literally baked and literally solid, alcohol did absolutely nothing.
>>
>>55419028
You can't just expect to rehydrate dried minerals in seconds. Let it sit for a while.
>>
>>55419057
You need to give it electrolytes.

Custom machined copper base with fins on the underside.

Might be time to to get a new heatsink OP

Go to wallmart, buy new laptop, put old one in box take it back for a refund. The employees there are dumb enough not to notice.

>>

Not him, but really? They have to check mane, I can literally just buy a real PS4, and maybe replace it with a fake one that looks exactly the same.

don't buy laptops you know you can't service. do reasearch before buying a fucking laptop. same goes for anything else in life
>i'll buy this piece of shit. how easy is maintenance on it?
>>
>>55421882
Agreed. It's like buying a BMW and you don't know shit about the car, or how to fix it. You get me?
>>
>>55416875
The best solution is not owning a laptop.
>>
>>55418896
>I don't understand thermodynamics: the post
>>
Getting a cheap one so it doesn't matter if it breaks down at some point, and using a desktop for anything serious.
>>
>>55420804
you can still game without the tumour waterblock, presumably you just keep it at your desk at home
>>
>>55422506
Yea it would probably run like shit.
>>
>>55422519
nah just regular gaming laptop housefire temperatures for the GPU, it has fans for the graphics and processor while not docked to the watercooler, probably not any worse than the other desktop GTX 980 gaymen laptops
>>
>>55422609
>not worse
Obviously it's gonna be about 100% worse
>>
>>55416875
Put ice bags under it. Replace every few hours.

I wish I had. I literally had to disassemble the whole fucking thing to reach the CPU cooler. Never buy consumer grade.
>>
>>55422631
Wrong. Performs fine when undocked. Literally no worse than similar laptops.

Get a fanless Chromebook.

They don't even get warm.

>>
>>55417131
Its impossible to buy a laptop that doesnt get hot unless it sounds like its taking off with fan noise.

I have a fucking amd in mine and it sounds like a jet engine
>>
>>55416875
It USED to be things offered by NZXT and thermal take. I have an old cased aluminium tripple 120 MM NZXT cooler within which I have upgraded the fans and I have to say, shit just werks. And werks well.

>>55422271
take your laptop/car analogies and shove them up your ass, please. the laptop, the car, and the analogies
>>
>laptop has ass-vents and two large fans

never have to worry about over heating. Just crappy battery life
>>
>>55424870
Not if your intake is actually on the bottom and if the fan blows air Up instead of pulling it.
Just make sure it's not USB powered those fans haven't got the power or the size move enough air volume to even get a dent.
>>
thought about getting what is in OP's pic. or not sure to get the 5 fan bottom part.I dont want both that'd be too homosexual
>>
>>55425182
how about you think about cleaning your fans, you stupid shit?
>>
>>55425210
i dont have a over heatng problem ya dingus. I just want cooler temps. My desktop is in storage so I'm on a memepad
>>
>>55424870
Cheap laptops intake air from the bottom. and they tend to lose their rubber feet and lay flush on the desk, so they can't get enough airflow.
>>
>>55420750
For the price of this meme machine you can probably get an amazing desktop and a decent laptop too
>>
>>55425308

but isn't this like putting two different speed fans on top of each other?
>>
>>55425342
It's like putting your laptop on a grate with a gentle breeze blowing trough it.
The fans are usually very slow and don't make much of a sound.
>>
this is what i use and it works well.
>>
cool cucumber near the intake vent
>>
>>55424906
Ima shove it up your moms cunt
>>
I don't need one because I bought a ThinkPad.
>>
>>55416875
liquid nitrogen is the best way
>>
>>55422660
You have to do the same thing to replace the cooler on the X220 I'm afraid. Did so myself not too long ago.
>>
common sense
>>
>>55418896
>>55419028
Use sand paper on the heatsink.
