Just spent my last 2 hours figuring out how to install my printer on Linux Mint. What the fuck man, why you should use an OS that are similar to Windows without professional softwares and proper drivers. I don't get it.

What printer are you using?

Never used mint, but never had a problem printing in linux. CUPS always detected the printer just fine.

Linux Mint is designed to work with any driver, but your printer is not designed to work with any OS. Blame your printer, not your OS.
first time i tried linux back in 2004, one of the first things i tried was my printer
it was a lexmark z31 parallel printer, it was auto-detected and worked immediately
it was easier to set up than it was in windows
Brother just werks. Better drivers than OSX.

in what way?

>printing in $current_year
literally why?

funnily enough, linux primarily uses CUPS these days for printing, which apple made

Same as the others here, for me printer and scanner are recognized immediately. What printer is that and what did you have to do?

Mint is similar in the looks category. Bottom taskbar with a "start" menu and quick launch.
